Guest guest
Well Les, that's five months you've been off statins now so maybe not long left before you start recovery. I was six and a half months before I started to feel less pain and then another three months to get all my energy back. Oh, Pam, I would be more than elated if I could recover! You must be so very relieved to be recovering, and I am so very relieved for you! You are diabetic too, right ,and how long have you been diabetic ? My neurologist still insists it's my diabetes that caused this, no matter how many times I tell him it came on after the statins ! Now my foot and leg are getting amazing electric shocks and pain - but are quite shapely again LOL. Circulation seems to be coming back and maybe the nerves reconnecting. I honestly never felt better - but I'm still CoQ10ing.So let's just hope it won't be long now before you see some improvement. Hugs back, Pam. I get those electric shocks, too, but in my neck all the time . Thanks for the encouragement , and again I am happy things are improving for you ! Hugs, Les . Guest guest
I was diagnosed diabetic in February 2003 when I got 'captured' after splitting my ribs open from coughing. (That sure stopped me smoking). The docs got blood from me and I had high cholesterol and diabetes - according to them. I reckon diabetes (type II) is just a wrong way of eating. So since then I've only eaten very little carbohydrate and then only of low GI and my blood sugar levels are normal. I see that eating foods with a high GI are thought to be one of the contributory causes of heart disease which is interesting because it was very often eating bread which brought on angina. And it's interesting that as far as I know, no other mammal (except possibly pigs) can digest wheat. How long have you been diagnosed diabetic Les? I was expecting it , since I was the last family member that wasn't diabetic yet , until now ! It is genetic all through my family, type l and ll . That is wonderful, your sugar levels are normal now , wow ! I eat low carb too, and levels have come down , but still it's a challenge , since I'm genetically programmed for this disease . (Mom, Dad, brother , and grandparents , cousins aunts and uncles )Interesting about the wheat -my sister in law was diagnosed with Celiac disease and the diet is really hard to follow , no wheat at all . Guest guest
That's tough Les. But genetic often means that you have the same weakness for something, rather than a specific gene for something. Maybe all your family can't deal wheat. I believe wheat is the root of so many childhood illnesses too - what's the first thing babies get after milk? Rusks made of wheat and loaded with sugar. Doesn't give them a chance at that early age. I make everything out of oats for which I have a weakness !! My oatbread and brownies are fantastic ! And my favourite breakfast is jumbo oats, berries, nuts and real cream. Yum. But you can use oats for anything you would use wheat for. Pam

It's my sister in law that has the celiac, but who knows, it could be in my family, also !
