Guest guest
Hi Nicola, While I haven't seen anything in writing about introducing a bottle, it is my experience over 16 years as an LC that at or around 6 weeks babies will balk significantly at taking a bottle I also tell moms to introduce a bottle as soon as breastfeeding is established, using the criteria you outlined. I then have them, or someone else preferably, give a bottle of EBM a couple of times per week so that the baby will continue to take it. I can't count the times I have gotten hysterical calls from moms who are going back to work at 6 weeks and the baby won't take a bottle from the caregiver, even if for some reason they were taking one well earlier on and it wasn't continued. I'd also love to see studies on this. Val Banarie, IBCLC Digest Number 687 > There is 1 message in this issue. > > Topics in this digest: > > 1.
