Hi Nicola,

While I haven't seen anything in writing about introducing a bottle, it is

my experience over 16 years as an LC that at or around 6 weeks babies will

balk significantly at taking a bottle I also tell moms to introduce a

bottle as soon as breastfeeding is established, using the criteria you

outlined. I then have them, or someone else preferably, give a bottle of

EBM a couple of times per week so that the baby will continue to take it. I

can't count the times I have gotten hysterical calls from moms who are going

back to work at 6 weeks and the baby won't take a bottle from the caregiver,

even if for some reason they were taking one well earlier on and it wasn't

continued. I'd also love to see studies on this.
