Guest guest
Steph, I really believe that you have to look upon your MS as a whole rather than the parts. In other words no one symptom is the problem nor is it the solution. We have an " autoimmune disease " , this means that our own system is attacking itself. The symptoms that are presented can be numerous and contradictary. I went throught the very same thoughts, what can I take to aid my vision, how do I get my leg to work again, can I take something for greater energy and on and on. It was not until I truly understood that my life is no different now than when I didn't know that I had MS. I still face life one day at a time, just like everyone else (everyone, not just us with MS). I still have dreams and ambitions. As far as the dietary modifications that you may have to make it may be a choice between cheese and walking. I am not trying to be mean just real. In all of us with MS there is some stress or stresses on our immune system. This is the most complex system we have. You will get through this time and your anger and confusion. Take charge of your care, ask questions both here and of your doctors. Ed > is there a diet i can be on or anything i can give up to ger the > sight in my left eye back? Guest guest
I really blieve Qi Gong would be heplful. There are specfic activites designed to regenerate and bring energy to the optic nerve and eyes. Have you heard of Qi Gong, and is there a practitioner in your area? If you are interested, I would be happy to tell you more about it. > >Reply-To: mscured >To: mscured >Subject: diet? >Date: Mon, 06 Aug 2001 06:23:22 -0000 > >is there a diet i can be on or anything i can give up to ger the >sight in my left eye back? > _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
Guest guest
Steph Yes and No. If you think that there is one specially effective medicine, or therapy that will help you're mistaken. We hoped for that also. If you think that there is one special food that is hurting you, you misunderstand. We did too. If you think that there is one special diet that will cure your eye, you are being silly. Though we've been there too. Each of us. We can say that because we are the afflicted. You need to do ALL THESE things. And there is a very very good chance YOU WILL SEE AGAIN. And it is pretty much guaranteed that to the extent that you start these good things to do, that to that same degree (small or large) you will start slowing down the destruction of your nerves. Please get that clearly. You are sliding quickly down a hill. The first objective is to slow down and stop before you return up that hill. And it is pretty much the experience of us all that the dilly dallying you do will cost you. Your best chance is to stop regretting and give up what used to be. This is the first day of the rest of your life. And it isn't a bad thing. You don't need to be down about it. You might even come to see as many of us have, that we are better people because of the way MS has made us focus on what we need to do each day. And you cannot, MUST NOT do what any ONE person or friend or authority says. You must do your own homework. You must study and decide for yourself. Then you must selectively find what works for you. Every step of that study is hard. Every step of that work takes time. Like folks have said to you. Start anywhere. Start right now. Go to the www.ms-direct.org site and do the stuff on the " Quick Start Guide " . It was done for you! It is as Embry Ashton so aptly puts it your " Best Bet " .
