I don't see it happening here. I may be wrong. You mentioned dementia. I heard Alzheimer's from Les. these are two different things and I stated I found Alz hard to believe because of my experience with alz in the past. I have personally told hundreds of families their loved one has Alzheimer's. So I don't need a lecture here about it. (did not come from you I know) But I said I found it hard to believe. I did not rule it out, but hard to believe, and got reamed for that opinion. Dementia yes, Alzheimer's?

Dangers of Statin Drugs: What You Haven’t Been Told About Popular CStatin Drugs & Memory Loss - Share The Wealthholesterol-

there are dozens of sites out there about the connection between statins and alzheimers . ita was a very good friend, and I saw her go downhill after being on this drug, then I did the research, and found the connection . Why are you so narrow minded about all of this ??????????????

Matt.........I have had many losses, but none in this letter:-)

Did you think Ed was a loss?

<grin>

If so I apologize.......those of us who came here when he first started this group, sort of know him.....he is very nice.

I will tell you the story.....

He had open heart surgery and well.........he is very vocal about his beliefs about meds, etc....anyway, he was MIA..............he was a regular poster and talker....so I was worried....did searches and some nice person sent me some info....among which was his cell phone number.....

After combing the obits.....(morbid I know but I was worried) I finally called the number and he answered. He did not know who I was but I told him it was not nice to drop out of sight:-)

He explained puter problems and would be back. I think he was quite flattered by my call:-)

Anyway...........if Ed is who you think I lost.......no, it was a misunderstanding...sorry about that.......he is alive and well Thank God, and will be back.

I enjoyed this letter of yours......

We can all learn......

Jill

ps. wow 123...........wayy low:-)

When I first started cholesterol research, one of the first things I came across was........the higher the cholesterol, the greater the HA risk. The lower the cholesterol the greater the stroke risk.

Some years later, it was then recommended to go even lower on the cholesterol number.....anyway, these kind of things is why I like to search and learn.....because this is real conflicting info.

Anyway thanks again for your niceness:-)

Oh and another thing....

during rehab, my husband....(heart rehab from bypass) was in a class with some other people...one was a man about 65. His wife attended and we visited. She took very good care of her guy.....doing almost everything for him. She later told me he had just been diagnosed with Alz. I asked her what meds he was on......she pulled out a big long list....and there in the list was the dreaded Lipitor. I thought, what a coincidence.....so many I had heard had alz/dementia (i know they are not the same thing, but most people do not differentiate) who were taking statins, plus my husband, (who is great now by the way).....I contemplated telling her about my concerns.....but in the end did not. She and her hubby were very dependant on their docs, and all the drugs.......I just decided to not even go there.

But to this day I can't help but wonder.....

I have to go but in other posts I will go into detail about my hubbys' side effects..........

He has switched to niacin and now is pretty much normal again.........he has never regained the muscle loss tho.

wow

I leave the room for a while and come back to all this............STUFF.

Boy, our fearless leader Ed would be diggin this.....I feel like i am on the O'reily show....so confrontational:-).

Well anyway......so much mail to read and not enough time...I did catch a couple tho....and will say, loved your resume Matt:-)

You sound like you have friends in the right places, and have worked around medical settings.......that is nice....

I always wanted to be a nurse myself.....but then.......after a brief while I knew I would have to be the doctor.....not the nurse......and while my family had flown the coup.....and I was ill.....had no resources to school myself.......so, that about sums up my early life. Anyway.......

I find this all so stimulating.......yes I do:-)

I like a good debate...and even like to hear others' opinions.....and I am not one sided.......and am willing to learn.

However......it is true..I will speak for Ed and say he made this group to be a support arena for people who have been harmed by statins, OR, have noticed themselves or loved ones reacting in a bad way.......

I think I posted the very first post here....and while my brain is foggy.....and can't remember exactly what I wrote.....I will sum it up by saying my husband who is 56, turned into an 89 year old person who looked like he had parkinsons, dementia, and wierd neurological things going on...Plus all his muscles were eaten away....it was from the statins, and being the good sport he was, he tried about 4...

He also tried Red Rice yeast.....which did the same thing eventually.....because while it is "natural", it is still a statin.

Just nature made not man made from what I understand.....(oh boy I feel those rebuttles coming in)

Anyway......His sister had a bad case of the Rham thing.....has been bad off for about a year......God willing she will recover, she is only 53.

Matt, I just want you to know.......that my husband and i know many people who have had very bad things go haywire when on statins.......when things like that happen, people start branching out and looking for others to talk to......

I think that is what this group is about...as if you or anyone else did not know. :-) But anyway....I like to give people the benefit of the doubt....

I will ask, if you have no qualms about statins, why did you join? Is your dad having any adverse effects?

I will say out of many many people, I do know of 3 who are doing well, (as far as they know) on the statins. So, yeah:-) some things work for some....

I also want to say........I happen to think God does not make junk, and also that we have the ability to help heal ourselves.....and I also know we are gonna die when it is time.......so in the meantime....we do the best we can, and for me that means being as natural as I can possibly be as long as I possibly can.

I hope your dad does real good on the statin......if he is I sure would not even share the side effects you know to be out there.....

He must be a good man to have adopted you. I was wondering why you mentioned that .....oh yeah, I guess to say you did not inherit his genes...

(We adopted a girl also)

So, what IS your cholesterol? I am interested.

Personally I think it is perfectly ok to have polite disaggreements....just realize most people here are frustrated and looking for answers....and others who have been there done that.

No more, no less.

And...this New World thing................never heard of it...and I have no time to go look it up........

Sounds kinky.

So very glad to see so many posts...........the members must be climbing here.....wonder what we are up to now.....

Ed would be proud.

Jill

No I read "my husband was 56, turned into 89 year old person". Went back and see that it is "is" not "was". Even more sorry about that. Long day.
