Hi Arlene,

I am going to try and break down the confusion about

PDD Vs DLB. From what I am reading that the LBDA team

researchers came up with in the most recent update is

that LBD (Lewy Body Disease) is a spectrum of

different Lewy Body Progressions. They are now called

the family of Lewy Body Disease. They all have the

same symptom varients as we all talk about here. We

can all identify most of the time, but not at the same

point in time with what our LOs are experiencing.

Parkinsons Disease Dementia is of the Lewy Body

Family. If your LO was diagnosed with Parkinsons 1

year or more before the onset of dementia your LO most

likely has Parkinson's Disease Dementia. Diffuse Lewy

Body Disease,Dementia with Lewy Bodies, Lewy Body

Dementia and Cortical Lewy Body Disease and

Parkinson's Disease Dementia PDD is all in the Lewy

Body Family. What the diagnosis of LBD is, is in the

length of time between the diagnosis of Parkinsons and

dementia or dementia being first and Parkinsons

following. You still belong in this support group if

your LO has PDD. I now know that my husband has

Parkinson's Disease Dementia PDD, since he was

diagnosed in 1993 with Parkinson's and dementia

followed in 2000, but he is still in the spectrum of

the Lewy Body Disease Family and that is why I am

battling the same symptoms as most of us are.

Hallucinations, Delusions, Parkinsonism, Dementia and

a list of other LBD symptoms.

I hope this clears up some of the confussion. I will

learn more about it at the DC Symposium, but this is

what I have read on the update. Jan
