Guest guest Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Hello to you all, and especially those involved in the Heritage Jersey thread.... I just can't wrap my mind around this. Please send your input on this. If the Heritage Jersey breed really is rare and individuals hard to come by (high demand, low supply) how is it then that conventional dairies get "saddled with" them and eventually want to cull (nice euphemism for KILL!) them? Makes me think there should be a "breed rescue club" ! They have them for specific breeds of dogs and cats (i.e. Border Collie Breed Rescue Club), why not as well for the Heritage Jersey? If one crops up in a conv. dairy somewhere, someone (an angel?) swoops in, plunks down some $$ and takes the mini-Jersey to a waiting, deserving new owner? (Probably one who has already applied for one, underwent a "home check" and all that). Talk about win-win...the conv dairy is happy, the new owner is happy, AND the Jersey is happy, probably bound for a long, long life!
