Guest guest Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Hello all, My sister's baby died at 27 weeks gestation in uterus and my sister had to deliver him last Friday. It's been a week now and my sis has not experienced Lactogenesis II. I talked to her on Friday (1 week after delivery) and she said her lochia was still bloody and lumpy, her breasts became softer, she did not experience engorgement, pain, fever and only a few drops of milk comes out when she tries to express. I told her to check with an OB/GYN but she called her midwife that said everything was OK, she remembered the placenta coming out in one piece. I adviced my sister to keep watching her lochia and if there is still blood in there by Monday, she should go to the hospital. Could milk come in without any engorgement for someone who is not breastfeeding? I can't check her breasts nor her lochia because I am thousand of kilometres away from her and I guess I already have my biases due to the horrible maternity care she received in that country where she is at. I do not know if I am just overreacting or there really may be a retained placenta problem. Every input is welcome. Thanks, Ibolya Eva Rozsa, LLLL, IBCLC Hungary Quote
