Guest guest Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 Jenifer: Yes to all of your questions.....It took 3 years and 4 doctors for my diagnosis of Fibro and then It was diagnosed only as a secondary to RH and degenerative spine disease...During that time I was only given anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication along with an anti-inflammatory. Many doctor's still see Fibro as what they told me a (waste basket) diagnosis...I understand it has just been very recent that SS. Disability is accepting Fibro as a viable disabilitating syndrome...Jeanne Questions to Ya All I'm just curious, wondering if I'm one of a rare few... How many of you have been misdiagnosed, or not diagnosed in a timely fashion? Were you left in pain, because a doctor either didn't believe you, or for whatever reason refused to prescribe pain medication? I know, I was when I needed it most. Perhaps you have seen the show on TV called Medical Mysteries. What amazes me is that it seems like a family member is the one, on the Internet, who unravels the mystery. I'm surprised that we so often have to do the leg work for our own diagnosis and treatment. One more question...Have you been treated less than favorably by a surgeon? I'm tired of the excuses that they are allowed for improper conduct, for lacking interpersonal skills. This has just been my experience and I'm not bashing all the truly fabulous medical professionals out there. Jenifer Quote
