My son is about 100 lbs. We are about to start valtrex and diflucan (saw good stuff with high dose vitamin A--and we rarely see good things from anything we do...)

What is the currently recommended daily dose of valtrex? (and for how long? indefinitely?)

Also, I never see a suggested dosing for diflucan. Can someone tell me that as well for a 100 lb kid?

Thanks

My guess (and since I'm not a doctor I can only say... my guess) would be about

1500 mg

per day. The typical adult dose for STD herpes is 3000mg per day. I would

guess that

1500 or 500mg three times is a pretty safe dosage, but check what your doctors

says.

How long to stay on it is always a question since when we think herpes virus, we

think

lifelong illness. In my son's case, he was on it for 9 months until he seemed

to platue and

then I took him off and he continued to develop just fine. He's been off

Valtrex and

Diflucan (and sometimes nizoral) for over year now and has had no viral or

fungal flair

ups.

If you get the body in order, this does not have to be a life long therapy IMO.
