Alcohol abuse is not the only cause of cirrhosis. However, whether alcohol

caused the cirrhosis or not, the doctor will most surely tell the patient to

avoid all alcohol for the rest of her life. Whether alcohol caused the

cirrhosis or not, it can contribute to the development of liver damage.
