cet égard qu'elle souffrait d'un *asthmatisme vieillissant* et ... - what

sort of asthmatic condition would " vieillissant " be - one becoming less

severe with age? Ca c'est pas clair, franchement. Parce que l'asthmatisme ça

m'évoque plutôt les " asthma-like symptoms " (symptômes asthmatiformes). Mais

ça peut être l'élucubration d'un jeune toubib croyant faire " anglais " :-) Je

comprends que c'est un " asthmatic condition worsening with age "

5. Elle a alors révélé une pneumopathie grave avec trois germes

principaux: staphylocoque, echerichiacolie[sic], *clepsiel* - Klebsiella?

6. Un indice *simplifié* de mortalité a été réalisé - standardised

mortality ratio? ou death index ??

7. L'anesthésiste [present at discussion] précise néanmoins qu'elle était

*stéatosique*, M. X lui ayant dit qu'elle prenait quotidiennement 3 bières

anglaises et un verre de vodka - suffering from fatty degeneration of the

liver? With liver steatosis

Thanks, , for grasping your scythe, clearing a path through my

overgrowth of queries and puncturing my ballonnée problem [the stomach was

not so much the product of pudeur britannique as dégagement intellectuel

idiopathique]! I hope you won't mind a follow-up query about fécalum and

clepsiel. I didn't find these terms anywhere and assumed they were either

idiosyncratic spellings or transcription errors for fécalome and

Klebsiella, but I'd be interested to know whether they are in fact in

current use - certainly fécalum seemed pretty plausible.

Happy to have been able to help you a little. Sorry if I reply in French,

but I'm tired, and not sure to finf the right words in English :

No problem. Fecalum and clebsiel are of the same kind as the strange

spelling of E. coli, just a transcription error. Ce que je veux dire, c'est

qu'il faut savoir que dans la majorité des cas, les études de cas, comptes

rendus, anamnèses, etc., de nos jours sont dictées par les toubibs sur

dictaphone, puis dactylographiées/saisies par les secrétaires médicales

et/ou l'infirmière qui a 2 minutes de " repos " . Dans le cas des secrétaires

médicales, il faut savoir que ces pauvres filles ne font que 2 ans d'étude

après le Bac, du moins en France, et c'est une véritable catastrophe,

surtout en début de carrière. Honnêtement, certains comptes rendus sont à

mourir de rire quand ils sont passés entre leurs mains. Ceci dit, les

conséquences peuvent être graves. Ce qui s'est passé cette fois, c'est que

la secrétaire n'a pas compris les termes qu'elle a entendus sur la cassette,

et au lieu d'avoir l'intelligence de demander à son patron d'expliquer ce

qu'il avait dicté, elle a tapé les termes " phonétiquement " . L'autre imbécile

dans cette histoire, c'est le médecin qui a visiblement signé le compte

rendu les yeux fermés. Je veux vous assurer qu'aucun de ces 2 termes

n'existe en français, même en jargon, et même si vous avez raison : fecalum

serait plausible.

D'autre part, j'ai vérifié, le fécalome et Klebsiella oxytoca combinés sont

une grosse cause de colite ischémique, K. entorolytica étant davantage

responsable d'hémorragies coliques.

Curiosité personnelle, à mon tour : est-ce que l'anglais " reintervention "

que j'avais suggéré (pour la simple raison que le français a copié et

utilise depuis quelques années " réintervention " à tout propos) serait une

bonne traduction de " reprise chirurgicale ('au bloc' en jargon) " ?
