There are many causes of sudden, seemingly inexplicable weight loss, J. Cirrhosis is by no means the only cause. For instance, another one that comes immediately to mind is HIV/AIDS. I'd sit down and discuss this issue with your doctor. " Unintentional " weight loss seems to me a symptom that you need to get them to figure out. Ginger, for sure taking iron can make you constipated. Beyond your meds, good diet, and sufficient fluids, the best thing I can think of is exercise, specifically walking. Are you well enough to get some moderate, regular exercise? And while blood in your stool can make it black, so can the extra iron . . .
