Guest guest
Well, as some of you probably remember, I had trouble with mold. I'm sad to say, my troubles continue. Just a quick recap, after cross contamination, I decided to continue brewing. I had some backups in two jars and the main brewing jar. I restarted a bit over two weeks ago. A bit over a week into the process, one of my storage jars got mold - cross contamination at work. Threw that one out. I was left with one storage and the main brewing. Checked on it once every week and everything looked great. Scoobies were getting nice and thick. So, today, I decided to bottle the brew. To my dissapointment, the main brewing jar has developed mold as well. It had a beautiful, creamy, thick scooby. It smelled right as well. Another one goes into the garbage. I'm left with the last container. This one has a couple of the older scoobies in there as well as the brand new one which is nice and thick. I will make a new starter and get this one going between two jars. Question, though. Once contaminated, is the mold just sitting there and will surface sooner or later? I mean, my last brew looked good for almost two weeks and then something happened. I'm very sad and discouraged right now. It's been a long process for me and I just can't getting going. I'm making kefir as well and that is going great.
