Porcine, or " natural " thyroid is Armour, as compared

to synthetic made in the lab (synthroid), and can be

compounded without any additives, but all of it has

to be prescribed, natural or synthetic. Dr. JM

The problem that we've run into is that the endocrinologist said we (my son and

myself) we both borderline. There's nothing borderline about our temps though!

I just didn't know if there was a way to get a thyroid product with a

prescription.

Right now I have Nutri-Meds, it's Bovine and there is no real recommended

dosage. From talking to other people that are using it, 2 of the Nutri-Meds is

equal to 15mg of Armour. But, that's not " from the source " so it makes me

nervous.

It also makes me nervous that it's Bovine.

Any ideas on getting a thyroid product?

Unfortunately, you need to find an enlightened doctor

who will work with you on this issue. Many things we

can play around with and have alot of leeway as to

dosages, but hormones in my opinion need to be done

within a safe range (especially in growing children)

so as to supply replacement for deficiency while not

giving excess so that we turn our own hormone-making

capacity off. I went to the Nutri-Meds website, and

was not impressed. You might play around with it for

yourself but I do not recommend you use that product

for your child. (BTW, our physiology and genetic

make-up is much closer to porcine than bovine). Dr. JM
