Guest guest
Thank you Moria, I will look into it. I really appreciate you taking the time out to give me such a lengthy reply. I know we are all very busy with our kids and just plain life. I will research this ozone stuff. I had read about it in the past, but did not really consider it. I honestly thought it was snake oil, so to speak. But I am willing to try anything at this point. We will go the topical route first. Re: Dr. McCandless/anyone who may be able to offer advice for chronic infection > Dr. McCandless, or anyone that may be able to offer some advice. Here is our problem. My son Zack, age 5, and recovered from some ASD symptoms, is still suffering from (I am assuming) immune system problems. He once again, has impetigo on his head. This has been a recurring problem since age 10 months old. This impetigo is resistant to bactriban, and oral antibiotics of any kind. Last summer, I started using Silver Sulfadiazine cream on the sores and that seemed to kill them. But now the sores are back with a vengeance. These sores are not responding to the SSD cream at all now. He has swollen lymph glands like marbles running up his neck and also up the back of his head. At this time, he has 34 sores on his head. The pediatrician has no answer for us. He just says he does not know what to tell us to do any more. These sores actually kill hair folicles on his scalp. He has tiny bare spots where sores have healed in the past. I have an appointment with a dermatologist for him, but am afraid we are yet again, heading for a dead end. My son simply cannot, must not take oral antibiotics. That is what started him having autistic symptoms. The last time he took antibiotics, it took over a year to get him back. All this besides the fact that what started his symptoms of autism was 30 days of antibiotics for impetigo on his head. > If anyone out there has any ideas, of can suggest a doctor that may be able to help us, I would appreciate the info. I am so afraid of this infection getting in his blood, then what? > > Sincerely, > in Ruston Hello , I wouldn't exactly say this is a recommendation--- on one hand I will include some recommendations--- on the other hand, I'm aware that the directions I'm going in here require a number of possibly quite problematic/expensive/ obscure things. But, hey, isn't that par for the course? (unfortunately) Okay, I am going to suggest that you CONSIDER ozone as an OPTION. I can't tell you everything in one post here, but I will try to BREIFLY give some good/bad highlights. Then I'll suggest some reading. That is really all I'm really suggesting--- that you FIND OUT about this, so that you can consider it for your situation. GOOD POINTS: 1. ozone is a wildly good anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. 2. it has been used for healing ( " in medicine " ) for a long time and is reasonably well researched for many many conditions. 3. it is legal to SELF TREAT with ozone everywhere in the US. 4. it is a very broad-specturm anti-pathogen, because it works by oxiding baddies, and also greatly strengthening cell's health (and the body's immunity). Ozone can be accurately described as " energized oxygen " . BAD POINTS: A. Ozone is almost unknown in the US (although it is used a lot in some other places, such as Germany, USSR and Cuba. In Germany I believe it is considered " alternative " but is used widely by MDs.) In addition to " being unorthdox " , this also means that the learning curve can be steeper (than it would otherwise be). B. Ozone is fairly problematic for practitioners to use in the US (more problematic in some places than others). There are some practitioners who use it, not many. (I don't know the specifics, but the general idea is that practitioners may be constrained from using it and/or harrassed for using it.) B. Depending on what form you choose to use, the starting price (in money) can be high. IF you decide to pursue this (after considering it) I would suggest starting with something simple/cheap like ozonated olive oil on his skin. (about $15 for enough to last a long time.) (You may want to also use other forms, more expensive.) C. Depending on what form of application you use, and depending on the individual, ozone can (and regularly does) cause quite uncomfortable " detox reactions " (which eventually go away, but it can be a long long long long time.) To the best of my knowledge (which of course has limits) ozonated olive oil RARELY causes detox reactions. Okay, I think those are the main good/bad points. At least what I can think of. Book recommendation: Oxygen Healing Therapies by ial Altman. Website: http://healingtools.tripod.com/OT_pages.html<http://healingtools.tripod.com/OT_p\ ages.html> Comment on the blood infection issue you asked about (and maybe also a comment about getting help): there are a number of ways to use ozone, including 3 or 4 methods involving needles, in addition to the " home application " methods (which do NOT involve needles!!!) Ozone will certainly clean up blood just fine, but the ways that I've heard of people doing this are all methods involving needles. Hospital Santa , which is located just over the border, in Baja California Mexico, might be able to do this. (There are other places that also might--- but Hospital Santa comes to mind. I just watched their free cancer therapy video, which is wonderful. It is run by Dr. Donsbach, who is pretty well known for his numerous books...... They are a wonderful alternative hospital. They use ozone and other oxygen therapies {HBOT and hydrogen peroxide], among other things......) I don't happen to know about cases of use for impetigo (or whatever else your son has). [i have read several/many cases of sucessful use on skin problems -- I read a few today. (I will tell you my story of use for a SERIOUS infection on a cat's skin if you want).] I guess my problem is (a) I don't know much about impetigo-- if it is just a skin issue, I think ozonated olive oil would be easy enough to try out. ( but that doesn't address your more general comments about his immunity, which would not be changed that much using ozonated olive oil (you would need to use other methods of applying ozone as a gas, with a medical ozone machine.) [bTW Even though I'm several days behind on autism-mercury, I will catch up there eventually-- I didn't get run over by a truck.....] good wishes, Moria Many frequently asked questions and answers can be found at <http://www.autism-rxguidebook.com/forums<http://www.autism-rxguidebook.com/foru\ ms>>
Guest guest
Yes Inna, I would love to know what your doc prescribed. My son is on Valtrex, which is frequently prescribed for herpes. He has been on Valtrex since last September. Since your daughter's lymph nodes were not swollen, it may be a very different thing than what my son has, but I am open to exploring all options. His doctor certainly is not doing any exploring!!!~@**~~@*!! Where are you located? Was this doc a skin doc? Thanks for all info!! I had been exploring the Vitamin high dose thing. Lately Zack has been having diarrhea, and when he does, it is like water. No other outward signs of sickness. And of course, this is the way it always is if he has diarrhea. It makes me think that he actually could have the measles virus in his intestines, thus keeping his immune system down. He never has had his MMR booster, and he never will. We are one of the lucky ones, in that he is pretty normal now. But I know that if we assaulted him again with something like that, we could just say goodbye to him, because it would take him away from us. Re: Dr. McCandless/anyone who may be able to offer advice for chronic infection Just throwing some ideas out there.... I'm sure you've read the medline site about washing the sores multiple times a day with antibacterial soap with a fresh wash cloth each time and changing pillow case and bedding daily. Guest guest
So did you ever find anything that worked? Re: Dr. McCandless/anyone who may be able to offer advice for chronic infection Sounds like my son. No one ever linked the swollen glands to the sores on his head. I wrote a post similar to yours on another list a few years ago. One listmate wrote that she experienced the same thing, and it was a herpes virus. She went through a number of doctors (including a psychiatrist) before someone figured it out. That was the first time someone suggested taking a look at viruses to me. Eventually, my son stopped getting the sores. We went through a number of bottles of every anti-viral I could buy - monolaurin, olive leaf, and some other things recommended by vrp.com. (In other words, I threw everything and the kitchen sink at the problem.) Ian's now 3 years w/o a head sore. Guest guest
Ann, I have not tried the Vit. A, but I am going to now. Re: Dr. McCandless/anyone who may be able to offer advice for chronic infection Have you done any vit.A? " A " is the skin vit. and many strange things disappear when this is addressed. Even acne is addressed with Accutane, a retinoid.... It's a possibility.. fwiw Ann Many frequently asked questions and answers can be found at <http://www.autism-rxguidebook.com/forums<http://www.autism-rxguidebook.com/foru\ ms>>
