Guest guest
Alice, I laced my responses through your email: << Carol, another thing people should be aware of is the side effects from the mercury in their dental fillings and the bacteria in root canals. I'm reading Uninformed Consent by Hal A. Huggins, DDS, MS and E. Levy, MD, JD and I am shocked on every page. How can this be true? Is this true? I don't know. How can we find out. ~~~~~~~I don't know. I had mine removed about 3 or 4 years ago, but never detoxed, so I don't know if it didn't do anything or if I just need chelation therapy, which I'll never get, because it's not covered by insurance. Some people have had improvement after amalgam removal, but I know a lot who didn't too. I also had a cavitation cleaned out, which could also have been a problem. And I have a root canal that the dentist wants to get out of there. I have 4 teeth that are crowned in the good composite, but they have mercury inside. He said they wouldn't be as much of a problem, because the mercury's not exposed. But you know, I ran into a guy about a year ago, who had all his teeth removed and that didn't even do any good! I'm just at a loss about the dental stuff now. I don't want to keep spending money on it, if it's not going to help. And someone at the store today was telling me about an article in Better Homes and Gardens about the problems from the genetically engineered food we're being fed and the allergic problems people are having with it. ~~~~~~~Yes, and I doubt that's the only problems they'll find. Having read Dr. Soll's book, Something Can Be Done About MS, And You Can Do It ~~~~~~~I haven't read that one. What's his main theory about all this? I know a woman who is going by Dr. Soll, but she doesn't avoid saturated fat. She is not doing well. I think she said he says to test your tolerance to foods by taking B12 and then seeing if you get flushes from the B12 after eating the food. I just really believe in Dr. Swank's hypothesis that we don't metabolize fat correctly and should avoid all saturated fat. So much so, that I wouldn't be surprised if that's what's doing her in. She seems to do everything else right. , I am looking forward to the magazine to see what it says. ~~~~~~~It's kind of amazing that a main stream periodical like that would take such a stand! Another example of the public being uninformed about the side effects someone else thinks it is okay for us to be exposed to. I wish I could feel that the powerful people in this country and world care about the well being of the public. I just don't know. ~~~~~~~I know what you mean, but I think everyone's ignorance causes them to unwittingly do things that harm us. I'm sure there are those who really just don't care and are only out after the money, but I think there's just too much ignorance about food, what it's made up of and how important it is to have it in the natural form. They don't know what they don't know is in food, so how do they know something important won't get missed in all this playing around they're doing. Guest guest
Dr. Soll's platform is that foods to which we are allergic excite our immune system. Then the misguided immune system attacks self. I saw him in Northern Virginia several years ago. When I tried to avoid the many foods the Elisha test said I am allergic to AND avoid the saturated fat, I lost 25 pounds too fast and just couldn't maintain that. So I sort of do both diets now, but not to the extrerm that I once did. I wasn't allergic to any meats (but hadn't been eating much of them because of Swank). So if Soll is right, and we are allergic to genetically engineered food also - YIKES! We don't stand a chance.

Guest guest
Carol And Alice And all, I have had ALL of the metal taken out of my mouth. And I have now done 3 DMPS. I have found that i do get worse when the mercury is stirred up by the removal and chelation.BUT ,I now have a doctor who is working to get me as strong as he can. And to detox me and I am better ,much better than I have been .i am amazed and hopeful. I guess the thing is if you do it -do it right and completely. However I would really tell any one to at least get the mercury amalgms out. And no root canals-I mean get them out-they are toxic. There are many success stories on this subject. Guest guest
Kaye Have you had root canaled teeth removed? If so, did you notice a difference from that? I have a pretty good ND MD, who I haven't seen in about 3 years. Guess I should go back to him and have some tests run at least. I think there are tests to see how much mercury there is in your system. I'd also like to have him check my thyroid and adrenals. I think the more things we can find wrong in our bodies and fix, the better off we'll be with the MS. Carol Carol And Alice And all,I have had ALL of the metal taken out of my mouth. I just was on the phone with someone on the mercury poisoning list talking about how dentists can, and DO, loose their licenses because they speak out against mercury fillings and/or root canals. Who on this list has read " Uninformed Concent " and/or " The Root Canal Cover Up " ? She attended the federal hearing in July 2000 and said a reputable researcher (I forget from where, but could find out if you want) said the mercury DOES get into the body from " silver " fillings. She said the ADA was taken back. She said that exposure about the poisoning of the American public is coming. Also from mercury used in the preservatives in many vaccines. You know, vaccines, like they give to our precious babies. Shocking - I'd like to find out this is not true. The leader in Congress is a Republican. I hope he gets re-elected next month. At the very least, we need investigations by a group not in the pocket of the ADA, the FDA, or the AMA. I called the poison control number in my local phone book. They finally admitted that mercury poisoning does cause demyelination. Can this all be true? I don't know. Give me a reasonable reason why it is impossible for mercury from my teeth to be causing my MS symptoms, and then I will not worry about it any more. Just having metal removed from the mouth is not the only thing they say must be done. Even dentures are made with mercury compounds and cavitations from where the teeth were often, OFTEN, contain dangerous bacteria that needs cleaning out. Bacteria producing neruotoxins. Anaerobic bacteria. Botulism is an anaerobic bacteria. I am struggling now with what to do about my teeth and am getting lots of information from that list. But no good advice about who will extract teeth, along with the ligament and affected bone. They say finding an experienced and competent dentist is most difficult. They say the dentists risk loosing their licenses and do not advertise. I feel that I am between a rock and a hard spot. Anyone have any suggestions?? I've been given names/numbers of two MS women who HAD MS and after I have read the other book and gotten my test results, I'm going to call them. I didn't see the article about the bioengineered food that was supposed to be in Better Homes & Gardens. but didn't have time to look (was with my in-a-hurry-husband). When I talk with " Pam " when she comes to work this afternoon, I'll get the details and page numbers. Sorry to have gone on so. There is so much I'm just finding out that I'm overwhelmed. He said he had to educate him on the problems with root canals and the necessary procedures to remove the teeth and get all the bacteria. If you can find a holistic dentist in your area, he may be able to help you find someone to extract teeth, or he may do it himself. There's a place on the web - can't remember the site - where you can find doctors and dentists that practice holistically. If you haven't heard of it, let me know and I'll see if I can find it. It wasn't a problem tooth but I have a doctor who insists that my neurologic disease(MS) is not goingn to get better OR stop until I got it ALL out and let my body heal. (He wasn't a dentist either) and yes you can do a 24 hour urine test to see the amout of heavy metals you have or are excreting in your urine. Mine was very high with lead and mercury which both cause brain leisons... About the addrenals. I have found that a problem too and with treatment for it am not so FATIGUED!! Guest guest
Dear Carol and everyone, These are just comments on what Carol said to Alice: Chelation with EDTA does not remove mercury. Probably the chelation doctors would be likely docs to remove mercury using DMPS or DMSA (I think those are intravenous and oral products, respectively). There are tests for mercury levels which can be done by a doctor who believes that mercury might be a problem. Doctors who remove mercury amalgams should be trained to do the removal properly. If mercury amalgam fillings are improperly removed it could increase your mercury load during the removal process. There is no doubt that high mercury levels are bad for your health. I do not know if we are all uniformly sensitive to mercury but I doubt it. I would expect that some of us would "get away with" higher levels of mercury than others would be able to tolerate. For lists of doctors who are trained to remove mercury amalgams: http://www.hugnet.com For lists of chelation doctors: http://www.acam.org scroll down on the first page to come to the information for the public such as finding a physician. Doctors who do chelation are also likely to be interested in alternative approaches to solving your MS problems. I hope these comments are helpful. Guest guest
I had all of my amalgams removed about 5 years ago. Dentist fought me on it, but since I have known him for so long, he finally did it. When he pulled them he said the mercury had been leaching into my body for some time....... afterwards, i got very sick, even though i spit every piece out, i am sure some of it got down my throat... i was down for a few days until i was strong enough to make it to my hyperbaric treatments. It detoxices you by saturating your body (bloodstream) with oxygen, this forces out all the junk. There is much more physics involved but i just back from my re-cert class and i am exausted. it took a few treatments but i was back to where i was before i had them pulled, continueing to improve. there are some clinic that will treat free of charge... if you look at the web-sit Hyperbaric-Therapy.com it will give you a listing. Get that mercury out of your mouth!!! Chelation concerns me. Kinda like putting draino in your viens.... so i skipped that part.. take care kim

I get really sick if i eat junk food. Makes it tough when you really want that bowl of chocolate ice cream. The ice cream usually wins. take care kim my mother is also very sensitive to " fake food " ... we have to constantly look for food that is whole and with no msg, etc.... drives me nuts... True story written by herself and her husband. I believe the book is actually written by A. Byrne. I believe alot of us women are poisoned due to the opinion " its just a woman " lets use them for guinea pigs.... have to tell you, it is difficult not to get my cane and knock these guys out. Guest guest
to everyone,,,, get that mercury out!!! you can safely (as safe as i could find) replace with porcelain. You will get really sick after, but if you have no other way to detox, drink only pure filtered water 24-7... yes, you will live in the bathroom. all of this i did 10 years ago when i was first diagnosed. it breaks my heart to see other people just starting out with some of these things. anything foreign in your body (especially metals of any type) your body will attack as foreign, our bodys are all electrical impulses and the currents are being disrupted by all the toxic junk around us. I had to leave class early because i could not watch these parents trying to save thier children. the looks on their faces and the pain in their eyes was all to familiar when i watched my mother try to save me. they have such a long way to go and the stories of chemical exposure these children endured by these idiot doctors made me so mad i had to leave. there was an entire family there, made up of professional engineers, mds, ph.ds, etc., all coming together trying to learn hyperbaric medicine to save thier son. all i could do was cry. i had to leave and come home early. If you stick your nose out far enough you will be flooded with info. kim

There are several different kinds, and you can be tested to see what one is most non-allergenic for you. I have them and have had for about 4 years - they're great.
