Guest guest
Hi Louis, you probably know this already, but it may not be an individual who is targeting your account. My understanding is that the way some of the current crop of viruses and worms are written, someone else's infected computer, who you emailed at some point, could be generating fake emails seemingly from you from that infected computer. That person may be unaware, and you would be unaware until you start seeing emails supposedly from you popping up here and there. Another way you might know is if you receive " delivery error " emails you never wrote that were rejected due to containing a virus by the receiving server. As far as I know there is no way to solve the problem once your email address is hijacked by one of these malicious codes. If you or your techie friends know a solution, I'd love to be in on the secret. Not a day goes by lately that I don't receive several of these emails " back " that I never sent in the first place. Good luck, don't respond *too* exponentially :-) Kathy R. in Indiana ----- Original Message ----- > Dear Fellow List Members, > > Someone is currently sending fake emails from my Hotmail account to the list. > This individual is using software which sends email from any address > to another address. Guest guest
When I read some of those " weird " posts yesterday, I ran my virus software, AVG, and it found and " healed " a trojan worm called, BackDoor.Iroffer.2. Just thought I'd share that as that may be what's being passed around. in Southern Illinois Louis OT WAS Re: Fake Emails Hi Louis, you probably know this already, but it may not be an individual who is targeting your account. Guest guest
Hi , " Netsky " is the one that I have been having the most problems with. My own computer is not infected, but someone that I have written in the past's computer is, and so that computer is churning out messages " from " me to other contacts in that person's address book. At least that is what my computer-nerd friend tells me is happening. I hadn't heard yet about BackDoor, but nearly every day--sometimes twice/day--there are updates to download and install from my virus software company. I don't know how anyone who doesn't keep their anti-virus program updated to the moment this way can hope to avoid infection. Thanks, Kathy R. in Indiana ----- Original Message ----- > When I read some of those " weird " posts yesterday, I ran my virus software, AVG, and it found and " healed " a trojan worm called, BackDoor.Iroffer.2. > > Just thought I'd share that as that may be what's being passed around. > > in Southern Illinois
Guest guest
Hi, Kathy. I agree-about updating virus software. Mine is the free AVG, and I would be lost if I were to crash my computer as I work from home with it and also wouldn't have OCD Parenting to keep me alive. in So IL Re: Louis OT WAS Re: Fake Emails Hi , " Netsky " is the one that I have been having the most problems with.
