Guest guest
My daughter (who is not the main reason I'm on this list) has a touch of low-level OCD. Her therapist calls it sub-clinical. It seems to break through under times of stress and lately she's not been handling things well, so she started (about 3-4 months ago) on a low level dose of Zoloft. Well, it had been a huge improvement, but lately (past several weeks) we are seeing break through problems. Starting around 4:00 in the afternoon through the about 9:00 the following morning she is awful. Lot of little things bother her, and she is very liable. I know that Zoloft is supposed to remain steady in the bloodstream, but it really seems like she is experiencing highs and lows. Her pediatrician has agreed to increase her dose, and we've also agreed to try adding the additional dose in the afternoon to see if that gives us more even dosing. Anyone have any experience with this? (Kind of funny that my kid with full-blown, over the top, OCD is doing great on therapy alone, but the child with very mild symptoms needs medication! I think the difference is that my son's problems were so in your face that we caught them, and addressed them immediately. My daughter has been having these problems for years, and it's become very ingrained, I fear. I still have vivid memories of her as a toddler waking us up, inconsolable, for hours on end in the middle of the night because no one could get her sheets on straight enough for her. That and having to go into the restroom and hand-wash her silverware myself because the restaurant couldn't find any that wasn't " sticky. " ) Jeanne jwestpha@...
