DMSA BREAKS DOWN once it is wet unless it is in a very acidic medium (in which case it probably still breaks down, but more slowly). I think this would be a real problem with a transdermal creme. The pharmacy may not realize this--- some parents have bought DMSA in liquid -- You get what you buy--- Don't buy something crummy like DMSA in a neutral liquid. Even in an acidic creme I WOULD NOT DO IT--- it will probably just break down slower, so this seems like a waste of money to me. 3. If you are determined to use it transdermally, you could perhaps buy the powder directly from a pharmacy or open capsules and figure out a creme to mix it into just before you use it, before each dose. Then use up the creme you mixed and throw out any extra and do it again before the next dose. 4. Of course, I don't know how well absorbed it is transdermally so the dose will need to be modified. For instance if the absorbsion is 50% you need twice as much. But if absorbsion in 5% you need 20 times as much. good wishes, Moria
Guest guest
DMSA is a very large molecule and cannot get through the skin. It is also unstable in either liquid or lotion form; it must be opened fresh each time you use it, and given orally. Dr. JM TD DMSA??? Hi All, I was wondering if DMSA was available in TD form? Anyone have any idea? Guest guest
I talked to from Coastal about that yesterday, and he said that they don't do it and that it would smell ten times worse than TTFD/Authia. Guest guest
I know most knew this for a while, but how long have DAN! doctors known that it breaks down when it's exposed? Reason being, when was a patient of Dr. Amy Holmes (2000), the DMSA was compounded (as per her instructions, not mine) so that we would have enough for 10 weekends worth at a time. Needless to say, we know better now. Looking back is always like a kick in the stomach because we gave him alot of DMSA then added ALA. Now we know we were giving him ALA without having any real chelating going on beforehand. And, he did go through a horrible regression when we added the ALA. (now we can say, duh!!!) Thanks, Winona Re: TD DMSA??? DMSA is a very large molecule and cannot get through the skin.
