Guest guest
I am writing on behalf of my daughter who is 4 years old. She was diagnosed with ASD nearly two years ago. She has made outstanding progress since then thanks to complimentary medicine and therapies outside the NHS. In fact a lot of people now think there may have been a mistake in the diagnosis. The problem now is her mother. She sat me down last month and said she did not want to continue the treatments that it is ok if we left her alone with her condition, and that she would be proud to be mother of a disabled child. This actually translated into making her more ill so she can claim the top tier of DLA for the child, as well as carer's allowance. I disagreed with her and stressed that we must continue to support her recovery. A few days afterwards, she re-directed the DLA allowance from the joint account to her own account for her own purposes. However this money has always gone to helping with the cost of supplements and therapy treatments. Earlier in the year, she made every attempt (and failed) to register our daughter in a local authority special unit for severely disabled children, despite all relevant professionals and teaching staff in her local nursery agreeing that our daughter was doing very well in a mainstream setting, and should be in a mainstream primary school. She is now consistently undermining her recovery by refusing to give our daughter the supplements as recommended by our nutritionist, by intentionally giving her food containing dairy or gluten which affects her speech, by downplaying the progress she has made, and by continually exaggerating our daughter's condition for the purpose of financial gain in state benefits. In addition she has been abusive emotionally to our little girl. Has anyone been through a similar experience? Can you recommend a solicitor who can help take the necessary steps to ensure that our little girl gets a chance in life? What are my options? You can reach me by emailing me directly: surhendo@....
