Guest guest
Rhonda, Cholesterol is a substance that is made by our own bodies and is not caused from eating fatty foods. Our livers make it and it is necessary for proper cell function. This is just such a huge phony bunch of propaganda that our modern medical establishment has thrust upon us. A cholesterol level of anywhere from 200 to 240 mg/dl are normal and always have been. A little higher than that is also just fine for most individuals. The pharmaceutical companies are getting stinking RICH off of unnecessary and expensive and yes, even harmful, statin drugs (see http://www.mercola.com/article/statins.htm) and the doctors are duped right along. Higher cholesterol levels can be a good thing actually sometimes. Saturated fats are not the problem. The real problem lies with a diet full of trans fatty acids found in partially hydrogenated vegetable fats and oils, and the lack of appropriate balance in the diet of the polyunsaturated omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Lowfat diets also create problems for our bodies. Here is a great article on the WAPF site called " Cholesterol and Heart Disease: A Phony Issue. " You can read it and have your facts ready next time someone spouts this nonsense at you. http://www.westonaprice.org/know_your_fats/fats_phony.html On Aug 26, 2004, at 6:05 AM, RawDairy wrote: > Message: 7 > Date: Thu, 26 Aug 2004 07:13:12 -0000 > > Subject: OT - Blueberries and Cholesterol > > Yesterday at work on my break, our *in company* tv was taking a CNN > headline news break and I just caught this. Guest guest
Rhonda, Don't be discouraged! You and I (and everyone else here) are working against a government that spends millions of OUR dollars to brainwash us agianst such things as raw milk...we can only do so much to educate the masses--- and if each of us raw dairy-ers does our part it'll not be long before word gets out mainstream! Furthermore, the Lord works in mysterious ways and you will no doubt have a chance to tell tohers about raw milk. :0) Encouraging the " teachers " from down here in Texas Wren In RawDairy , " fourume2003 " <mdrgnolan@a...> wrote: >ironically, I had just spoken to a gal not 30 minutes > earlier who declined my obligatory *telephone special* of caramel > pecan cheesecake (deadly!) because her doctor had put her on a low > cholesterol diet, with the *threat* that he'd have to put her on > statin drugs if she didn't get it from 257 down to 200. Guest guest
Ah, Grasshopper . Your wise words took the reply right from my keyboard!!! Well said, wise and knowledgable one! While my cholesterol is down, I really don't care about it - last check back in Feb was 231, and it did come down when I dropped the trans fats...even if it goes up I am sure I am eating soooo much better and I'm not worried about it. Wren -- WHo has little use for the pharmaceutical companies and their tests. > > > Message: 7 > > Date: Thu, 26 Aug 2004 07:13:12 -0000 > > From: " fourume2003 " <mdrgnolan@a...> > > Subject: OT - Blueberries and Cholesterol > > > > Yesterday at work on my break, our *in company* tv was taking a CNN > > headline news break and I just caught this. Guest guest
Wren, You are right about having a chance to tell others about raw milk. Remember the thread about a week ago about Freecycle and giving away kefir grains and kombucha? I've had numerous folks ask *What is it?* and have been able to email the link to Dom's websites. Also to the 2 gals who I'm giving kefir grains and kombucha I've mentioned that I'm buying raw milk from the farm. If everyone just mentions RawDairy to several people you never know where that might lead. Rhonda > Rhonda, > Don't be discouraged! Guest guest
, Thank you for the links. I have read, or skimmed through most everything on the WAPF website. But this is great stuff to refer back to when trying to encourage others to check out the cholesterol subject for themselves. I'll be sending this on to my brother, who is in nursing school(at age 49), believes everything the professors/doctors say - and is also on statin drugs. According to my folks he's planning on sending me a *warning* letter about all the controversial things that I'm getting into (RawDairy - High Sat Fat, higher cholesterol levels are OK, etc). Little does he know that I've *brainwashed* my folks in this direction too - He's going to have a cow <pun intended> Rhonda Here is a great article on the WAPF > site called " Cholesterol and Heart Disease: A Phony Issue.
