Valtrex and Amoxicillin ???

My grandson, age 2, has been on Valtrex and mb12 since November.

Tonight he went to Urgent Care and he has a strep infection. Can we give

him amoxicillin at the same time as the Valtrex or do we need to temporarily

stop the Valtrex? We are going to give him the antibiotic because we need to

take care of the strep first. I just need to know when we can give him the

Valtrex again. What about the mb12? I assume it is okay to continue with

that. Please help as we need to know tonight. Thanks.

When my son had strep and was on antibiotics I kept giving him the

valtrex.

I figured since one suppresses viruses and the other kills bacteria

there would be no problem.

Strep is certainly to take care of. I prefer antibiotic shots, like Bicillin,

over any oral

antibiotics.

It's good to have an ear infection stratey or strep strategy in place before it

happens so

you can act quickly at the doctors office.

For an ear infection you might want to consider probiotics first (if it's just

starting to come

on) or if you need to do an antibiotic I would consider a shot fo rocepherin if

you have to.

One shot of Rocepherin might do the trick. I've also heard, ear infections are

viral 67% of

the time.

My message.... stay away from oral antibiotics.

Yes, you can use Valtrex with an antibiotic.
