Guest guest Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 Hello Betsy, In regard to your question about CST and bubble palate; I have found myself is a situation such as yours a number of times. I had been working with a pediatric group and I did discuss CST with one of the Docs. She said she knew absolutely nothing about it and if I suggested it to a client and they discussed it with her that is what she would tell them. I went looking online for some good research. I found kellymom had a comprehensive list at this link. http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/baby/cst.html I went for a CST session myself just last week to a practitioner who I found on the Upledger site. I had referred a number of babies to her when nothing else worked. I wanted to see exactly what CST was for myself. It is definitely gentle, but I am not convinced that it does anything. I guess I would still give a mother the information about it if we couldn't solve the problem any other way, but I can't say with conviction that I know it works. The mothers I referred also were not sure whether it helped or not either and a couple of them went for many visits. Their insurance did cover it. As for the bubble palate; as long as baby can get enough milk I might use a nipple shield to give mom a little protection and hopefully the palate will reshape naturally in a short time. I am interested to hear other opinions. You are right this can be nervewracking. Judy Gutowski, BA, IBCLC, RLC Breastfeeding Matters Quote
