Tea (and coffee) have both been seen to be cancer preventative, Lizzie, at this point, and tea has also been shown to be antioxidant and preventive of stroke and heart attack. The difference in longevity (4-7 years) in Seventh Day Adventists is attributed by most researchers to their vegetarian diet. Tea and coffee were demonized in the 1970s but have since been rehabilitated as actually good for people, like many things have been. Although with your allergy, obviously you can't have tea. I do think it is very important that you keep a spare SCOBY in a traditional tea bath. I was using 100% agave (cactus) syrup as my sweetener and after about a year it seemed that my culture was weakening. I have since added 25% barley malt syrup and the culture seems robust again. --V ~~~ There is no way to peace; peace is the way ~~~~ --A.J.
