Guest guest
hi group, maybe somebody can help me, my son alex has tried so many antifungals with really no success. i have put him on nizoral and we have seen improvements in his behavior for the better, but he is so constipated from the nizoral. it is working in one way but not helping his bowels. i have tried miralax, and his stomach got so bloated and he was getting stomach pains so i stopped, i have tried benefiber, mag citrate, flaxseed powder, pomegrante juice, and he is not moving his bowels. i am so scared. i stopped the nizoral for a couple of days to get his bowels moving and i am still having a problem. the only time he moves a bowel is with ducolox but it is not alot. i am not sure if that is safe to use everyday. has anyone had this problem? my guess is a yeast die off could be causing constipation.... actually when he does seem to move a bowel he has diarhea.... IT IS CRAZY... do you continue?? thanks for any advice cheryl
Guest guest
Your doctor may need to examine for impaction, or even get a stomach x-ray; suspicious when there is diarrhea and constipation (loose stool seeping around the impaction). Guest guest
The first thing I think of with constipation is yeast. Are you sure the Nizoral is effective? A dysbiosis test might be in order. I use a lot of magnesium and vitamin C, two things they can never get enough of, and I use them to " bowel tolerance " , that is, until stools get loose, and then cut back. I also use a product from NF Formulas (part of Integrative Therapeutics) called NAG (N-Acetyl Glucosamine), one capsule twice daily. Pushing fluids helps if you can get them down him, Maureen McDonnell recommends Smooth Move Tea for the kids. Epsom Salts baths may relax him and this helps some kids. Is he eating enough bulk to be producing good stools? Often when we have to take cereals away the kids do not get enough fiber; fresh pears and berries (and of course the vegetables!) are good for this. Constipation is serious; I worry about it more than diarrhea, because the toxins are not getting excreted. Please don't do any chelation while he's constipated (TTFD is OK). Again, the cautionary note about possible blockage. When you palpate his lower abdomen, is it soft? Do you feel anything there? When diarrhea accompanies constipation, it may be all the things you're giving him are causing the loosening of stools but he can't get a large bolus out - often kids are pretty uncomfortable if this is the case, but not always. Hope things get better. Guest guest
Dr. McCandless, What brands do you suggest for vitamin C and magnesium?
