Silly me but what's your address? I can only pull up csb.

Planning a Gathering for Us and Our Kids

Let's do it! Dr. M has asked me to get a count on who wants to get involved

and who wants to do what.

Please contact me off-list and I will setup a separate list for those who

are interested. Let's go!

Lynne

P.S. For anyone who is new to the list and is not familiar with our proposed

gathering, see recent threads " Winona's frustration/taking action " and

" Planning a Gathering. "

Lynne,

Jack and I feel it's too early to go off list in planning the gathering...Some

parents do not get on the list regularly and may miss what we've been talking

about. We need to take a few days to get more responses and other members' ideas

before we start doing a " head count " - - -like where the majority prefer to have

the gathering and when, etc. Then we can give people on the list a chance to

decide whether thiy're interested...As you know so well, creating a gathering

like this is a big commitment!

OK... so now I'll send my response to the list. :)

I'd like to participate but without my babies this year due to their

young age and difficulty with travel. I would like to learn from

this first one and then possibly organize something in the southeast

if there is an interest from enough people in this region. I am open

to any location but if we are trying to accommodate people

nationwide, perhaps there is a somewhat " central " location that we

could choose. Airfares vary and sometimes across country travel can

be just as cheap as close locations... but all in all it seems worth

checking out to consider a central location where perhaps even

accommodations may be more affordable. That may not be possible

since it appears many interested parties are on the coasts... but

just an idea. Or the other option may be a smaller group for first

gathering to " get the kinks out " and doing this closer to Dr.

McCandless.

I'll like to come regardless of location... depending on date and an

upcoming move this summer.

Sounds like the beginning of something wonderful! I'll also be glad

to help in any way....regardless of location.

Dear Lynne,

Our family of four is interested in the unique gathering opportunity

at the Ojai Foundation. We have never been on a family vacation-

vacation, and financing would, of course, be our trouble spot.

Please let us know if we could 'earn' some portion of scholarship;

- help with some of the jobs that Jack posted earlier

- help with domestic duties at the site

- provide piano performances (classical - accompaniment to

vocal/instrumental - sing-a-longs - talent stuff for the kids - or

whatever --probably can't fit a piano around the campfire, however!)

- just plain sharing our Clayton

(Honestly, I feel a bit intimidated when reading others' posts; ya'll

sound soooo intelligent, skilled, and experienced with sooo much to

offer the group; I would not want us to be a deficit.)

Hoping to help,

Cheryl
