Guest guest
No one knows for sure if ALA crosses the BBB; all we know is, we try to get as much Hg out of the body as possible, and it seems to somehow pull it from the brain when it decreases elsewhere. ALA is not a chelator, but it is an excellent anti-oxidant, which the body needs. Also, the yeast love it! Dr. JM ALA question Does the trio of glutathione,TTFD and B12 for detoxing remove mercury from the brain. I thought you had to use ALA to get to the brain. What is Dr. McCandless recommendation? Thanks, Terri ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree that that is ONE of the things we know. Other things we know about ALA include: a. it has two thiol groups. That is, it has the chemical structure of a mercury chelation agent. b. it is oily, which would make it likely to cross the BBB, where other chelation agents (DMSA, DMPS) are NOT oily (they are more watery). So, it looks and acts like a substance that would be expected to cross the BBB. c. there are studies of ALA as a chelation agent, and its effects. good wishes, Moria
Guest guest
It's good, it helps one way, anyway. However, it takes mercury out by stool rather than urine, so bowel still gets hurt by mercury leaving; gut health needs to be good and mucho probiotics during the use of ALA. It is very important to keep bowels active; diarrhea is better than constipation, where all that mercury gets reabsorbed, and things can become worse. Guest guest
Jaquelyn, What is your opinion on the transdermal ALA that Coastal has? No more gut worries and they have heard of positive responses. Any thoughts???
