RE: EN-IT sentence on interferon-beta

Hello ,

Interferon beta helps to stop the damaging of immune cells in three

ways:

1. diminishes the expression of MHC II (major histocomatibility complex

class two- that's a molecule that shows on the cellular membrane and

helps immune cells identify each other) on lymphocytes

2. reduces the activation of lymphocytes

3. reduces the proliferation of lymphocytes

this is my first message to this list and I hope that someone can help

me

with the sentence below. I do not understand the meaning of the first

part

of the sentence, I know the the translation fo terminology but the word

order creates some problems to me.

It's not hot here but still my brain seems to be fried..

By attenuating the expression of major histocompatibility complex

class-two

molecule expression on antigen-presenting cells, and reducing the

activation and proliferation of lymphocytes, interferon-beta limits the

amplification of damaging immune cells

I think, the second word " expression " is redundant, and the remaining phrase

sounds fine to me.

There are other people on the list who are more expert, but just in case

you need a response fast, here is my take on this sentence ...

Some immune cells are causing damage, and interferon-beta limits the

amplification of those immune cells. It does this in the following way.

The antigen-presenting cells are expressing some molecules, which are

called major histocompatibility complex class-two molecules.

Interferon-beta limits attenuates the expression of that type of

molecule.

I hope this helps a little.
