Guest guest
, Not all agree with the use of stevia, but it has helped us. I give our daughter about 20 ounces of water, with a little bit of lemon juice and a dash of stevia. You could even use a little stevia to sweeten the pure cranberry juice and water. It's pretty tasty. We are on a modified SCD. Hope this helps. Becky Help please....juices to use with yeast problem Hello: We are trying to get to straight water rather than diluted juice. We have been doing VERY diluted pear juice that is homemade mainly from the water/pears we made pearsauce with. It is not sweet at all.. I think it tastes horrible and almost like water but my son craves it and loves it still. We tried switching to water with just a little organic cranberry juice with NO sugar. This stuff tastes terrible! He won't drink it at all and I wondered if I could add a drop of liquid sweet n low (legal on SCD diet we are on) and if this would be better than letting him have the diluted pear juice. We really are trying to get to totally water but I am afraid he is getting dehydrated... he only drank about 3 ounces today when normally he would have consumed more like 20+ ounces by 1 PM. He is going through many changes right now with new supplements and yeast die off so I would like to be able to get fluids in him if it is possible to do so without being counterprodutive to the measures we are taking to control yeast. Any suggestions on whether the drop of sweetner in diluted cranberry juice (8/1) or the diluted pear juice would be best to use?? Thanks so much for any suggestions! My son liked the unsweetened cranberry juice diluted with water and a couple drops of stevia. Don't use aspartame (Sweet 'n' Low). Stevia is pretty good in cold drinks (iced tea, lemonade, etc.). Guest guest
-Thanks Lynne... I was actually using the Sweet N Low because it is the only sweetner that I can find that is legal on SCD. I actually have not used more than 5 drops in the months we've been on the diet but had it here just in case we needed it. I don't like *ANY* artificial sweetners actually but wanted something in the house to comply with the diet if possible. I hope we can just get switched to water soon but he is sooo resistant. We have been about 1/2 way there for weeks now. I think some of this is his craving for the sugar to feed the yeast but I also think he just likes having some flavor in his drinks too. This too shall pass! Just don't want him to get dehydrated with all the other changes he is going through right now. Thanks again! -- In csb-autism-rx , Lynne Arnold <lynsuzy@e...> wrote: > > We tried switching to water with just a little organic cranberry > > juice with NO sugar. This stuff tastes terrible! I didn't realize that stevia wasn't legal on SCD. > I hope we can just get switched to > water soon but he is sooo resistant. For us, it helped to provide junior sport bottles and drinks with lots of crushed ice. Lynne
