Of course Judith Rapoport lives and works in D.C. She was my son's pdoc and of

course was extremely knowledgeable about medications and therapists. However, I

don't think she is seeing private patients anymore. However, she could no doubt

give you excellent recommendations. She recommended a fabulous ERP therapist

for us in Baltimore, and she knows good ERP therapists in Wash DC also.

Re: Washington, DC area

Hi, Janie, and welcome to the group!

Even thought I don't live in the Washington DC area and I'm not able

to give you personal recommendations, I wanted to say 'hi'. I have

a now 13-year-old daughter with OCD, diagnosed in Oct/Nov 2002.

She's presently on Lexapro 10mg alternation with 15mg...what med(s)

is you son taking. I noticed you're not yet satisfied with the med

and/or doses. It took us about 6 months and 4 medications to find

one that was a 'fit', taking away enough of the OCD fear to allow

her to fight back on her own as well. My daughter seemed very

sensitive to many of the (especially behavioral) side-effects that

can be seen with the SSRI's. We still have a ways to go, but what

great strides she has made when I compare this year to last.

Is your son currently seeing a therpist/psychiatrist? Would they

have a recommendation in the DC area for you? I know you asked for

personal recommendations, but I was wondering if you have also tried

the OC Foundation website (www.ocfoundation.org)...I know they will

send a list of providers in a geographic region if you

request...maybe it would be a place to start.
