It was a coated metal lid, I suppose there may have been some contact. I cleaned

it off

of the top of the jar and changed to a plastic lid. do you think that if it is

the metal

then the kt is contaminated? too bad, it was a really yummy batch.

Are you sure it wasn't SCOBYferous material? Sometimes the thin nascent

SCOBY looks greyish and weird.

But, it it's that the KT is actually grey/black from metal contact, I think

Bev and I and others feel that metal contamination is a real no-no. You

don't want that stuff inside your body. When I've stored KT or KT cream

with a canning jar type lid, the metal eventually does interact with the

KT, even though it is coated. The slightest scratch and there's bare metal.

I have been using (unbleached) waxed paper squares, held down with a mason

jar ring, for a lot of food storage in fridge, and as the lid on my villi

cultures. Works beauty.

it.
