Guest guest Posted July 30, 2004 Report Share Posted July 30, 2004 Hi, Jen. Congratulations on your new family member! Yes, anxiety and OCD are related--as are several other disorders. They are called " co-morbid disorders " but in my family we call them " cousin disorders " ('cause if you have it, chances are your cousin has it too!) My youngest daughter was actually diagnosed with anxiety before we realized it was OCD. Sometimes having a major disruption in the home (like the little girl) can cause an episode. I know that my youngest daughter, , is very sensitive to things like that and her OCD will flare if my husband and I fight for instance. She showed signs of OCD at a very young age as well.
