Guest guest
Hi everyone, Sorry I've been a bit quiet lately, had a lot on. The 5 day intensive courses we trialled last year, have really taken off this year, we only have one week left available in November. We have also started taking bookings for next year, so really pleased. They are great fun and we have seen great success with the children so far. We are thinking about offering one free week per year to a family who need it. We have thought about having a panel, who would go through the applications and decide on a family to receive the free week. They would just have to organise and pay for their own transport and accommodation. What do you think? I know how expensive everything is, the amount I spend on biomed for Dan scares me some months! So we want to try and at least give something back! How should we set up for parents to apply? If by application form, what questions should be one there? Should we get a reference from someone else who knows the child/family? Should we go for people who don't get funding for any sort of home program? Should we have a preference for non-vocal children as we have such a specialist vocalisation program now established? Your thoughts and ideas would be very welcome!! As for Dan, he continues to do well! Beyond our wildest dreams! He now has many of his words that he can use spontaneously and even has a bit of an argument using his words now, the last two nights when I am telling him it is bed time he is telling me quite adamantly 'TV' and then laughing! I have taken some video today so will try and get an update onto my youtube channel. Thanks, Risca
