Guest guest
Dear lee: This is one of those books like the Baby Wise series (or the Formula Manufacturer's pamphlets) which has some good information, some 'motherly wisdom' and some outright inaccurate, aggravating, infuriating opinions with absolutely no evidence-based or even any 'mothering art of breastfeeding'-based recommendations. The one idea that galls me most is that if you 'allow' a baby to fall asleep nursing, you have ruined them, spoiled them and you missed the opportunity to train them! [Of course, my own gut feeling -even without the research - is that if babies naturally fall asleep at the breast, and are very relaxed and peaceful there - that this cannot be a 'bad' mothering practice.] You can see I have a strong opinion about this book. It is very appealing to some. As I was reading, nodding along with some of her great ideas - I would be slapped in the face with a misconception that was presented as a fact. Very frustrating. You should see my own copy with yellow highlighter marking the inaccuracies!
