I have the hemo. If the hemoglobin test reads 47 or higher the nurse takes out

a pint of blood from ar vein. Phlebotomy. I get extra tired when it is time

for removal.. Doc explained that just like a car engine if the oil is too thick

the engine wont run right.. Same with blood-it gets real dark and super thick,

which could cause a stroke or heart attack if not treated. They will not give

me blood thinners for the hemochromatosis either.

It is just onemore thing to add to severe fatique.. I am soon to be 47 and

thats the same age my dad died of a heart attack. I assume I got it from him.

It is genetic.. My doc blames everything on smoking. LOL. Jodoco

Your kindness is truly overwhelming. Thank you SO VERY much, . You are

a special person.

We are in So. California. If things get to the point where I can't leave

. . . that will be a tough row to hoe but we will figure it out. We

have wonderful family and friends whom I know will help if I can tell them

what I need.

For now, can be alone. I work full time, so he's alone all day. We

generally talk on the phone at least once. Most of the time he's well enough

to be up most of the day, do some light chores, make himself something to

eat, feed the cats, and so forth.

The crisis of a few days ago seems to have passed. He's a bit better now.

New topic: What does anyone know about hemochromatosis? My MIL brought up

the subject yesterday. She met a man who has it, and apparently it can be a

cause of Cirrhosis (and liver cancer). She thinks her brother may have it,

and since is comparatively young to have such serious cirrhosis,

wonders if that might be a contributing factor in his disease.

I mentioned it to him and he said, " I had hemochromatosis once. " From my

research, it's genetic (therefore, not curable). But he says there are

different kinds.

Any info would be gratefully received.

Thanks!

Dorothy
