Guest guest
Sally, You sound like my idea of a 'normal' woman. Maybe you'd be interested in breeding heritage jerseys. There are at least a few of us out here who have fallen in love with Jasmine, and the idea of having a heritage jersey for a family cow. I just told my Jasmine about your Jasmine and she loves the idea. But they are so rare. We're not quite ready yet, but within a few years. I am very interested in the idea of preserving/using heritage breeds whenever and wherever possible -- hope that'll be a major focus of my farm, if or when... But I hadn't realized there was a heritage Jersey! How do they differ from " regular " Jerseys? Thanks in advance for any info! :-) Tom -- " The further removed we are from the land, the greater our insecurity. Guest guest
Tom, You could try going in the archives of the posts. There was a link where I read up on the history of the heritage Jersey (just fascinating!) and it explains that they're smaller than the "modern" Jersey. Go to groups.yahoo.com and click on "my groups" and then click on "raw dairy" and then click on messages. Then type in your search phrase (jersey or heritage jersey). Just remember to click "next" even if the search comes up empty. This way it keeps going back (you shouldn't have to click more than a few times to come up with the relevant info/thread). Enjoy! ;-) Sara Re: Discoveries from actually having a family cow At 7:31 PM -0400 7/5/04, tonio epstein wrote: Maybe you'd be interested in breeding heritage jerseys. [...] But they are so rare.
