Guest guest Report post Posted February 21, 2003 > If I don't do the atkins, I don't lose. During this time if you can get in 64 oz of fluid,80-100 grams of protein, followed by veggies, then fruits and last carbs, avoiding sugar...there shouldn't be much tummy room, if any for carbs. Where your at if you drink all your water, eat (not drink) 100 grams of protein and get in some green veggies...you should be pretty full leaving no room for carbs and that is pretty much atkins....Plus you are a revision and you want to maximize your weightloss during your first year...So stick to your plan doing basically Atkins, with an occasional bite of something yummy...like grapes! Enjoy the heck out of those grapes. Jo

And I'm still not doing any formal exercising but I do walk a lot at school. Of course, the bathroom issues are there but mostly at night and directly related to what I eat. Other than that, I'm good. I'm getting braces on Tuesday. Can you believe it? You look great, I saw your new pic! Hang in there sister! Guest guest Report post Posted October 15, 2003 , you are talking about what my husband and I call " Mother of the Year " moments! You know, those times when you know you are acting completely the opposite of how you should and you know that your child can't help it, etc, etc. I have to remind myself that I am human and that most of the time my kids are darn lucky to have me! I am so glad that my girls will let me tell them it's OCD when I think it is--I can't imagine how I would handle it if they were not okay with that. It must be really tough--like not talking about the pink elephant in the room? Kelley in NV
Guest guest Report post Posted March 13, 2004 You poor thing, Lori! There is a lot going on in your life, isn't there? I haven't joined any other sites so I can only imagine how confusing it can be. I have OCD too, as do both of my daughters. Mine flares up when I'm stressed. A little while ago, I caught myself carefully lining up all of my Girl Scout cookies (I'm a cookie mom) so that the labels were facing the same way and I decided I needed a little break! It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have so many cookies to straighten out! I'm glad to know the question belonged here because it really seemed to fit here! Talk to you soon. Guest guest Report post Posted January 25, 2006 Hi , Thanks so much for this. We've never done the scratch allergy test. He had a blood allergy test (sorry I'm not very technical) through Mass General which seemed to show no problems but I don't know how reliable that specific test/lab was. My son definitely responds negatively to dyes. He also can't seem to tolerate orange juice or colored juices that have berry in them. He seems to be craving GF/CF pancakes lately which I use eggs in. I also think he is sensative to corn (as he constantly wants corn based cereal) He is definitely a carb. kid .. loves his pancakes, waffles, rice pasta and fries. He eats very few foods. He does eat home made chicken/turkey soup which I put his veggies in (along with rice) and although I would really like to try the SCD I'm petrified he will not eat. He is one of those kids that would rather starve himself than eat something he doesn't like and it gets scary. He lost 5 pounds in a 6 wk period not too long ago so I'm really scared what he would eat if not for the rice/potatos. He doesn't eat much meat at all. (Though he used to eat hot dogs - if you consider that meat. LOL) I tried giving him almond flour pancakes and he did seem to like them but his poop became awful and I was scared he was sensative to even the almond flour. Do you live in Mass? I sure do miss home. I was from Malden - 5 miles from Boston. Now I live in PA. ann Tara > >>Hi there,For us .. my son has had fluctuations between diarrhea and >>constipation.? Guest guest Report post Posted January 25, 2006 Hi ann, I think you and I spoke on the Autism Web forum I live in Andover. One of the only things my son eats is Waffles/pancakes. You don't need to put eggs in them. (I tried gluten free mixes... too gritty and he wouldn't eat them) I use 1 tablespoon of milled flax seed to help the pancakes rise. I also use rice milk because my daughter can't tolerate soy you could also use coconut milk (although that mildly changes the flavor). Also he wont eat veggies so I put a couple of tablespoons of baby food veggies and he loves them. For my son eggs are worse than gluten. Like I said they never showed up on any blood allergy test. I also only use a very little syrup 100% pure only. I would try removing the eggs for a few weeks and then reintroduce if you can't get a scratch test done. Good luck, > >Date: Wed Jan 25 08:52:37 CST 2006 >To: mb12 valtrex >Subject: Re: >Hi , >Thanks so much for this. We've never done the scratch allergy test. Guest guest Report post Posted January 25, 2006 ann, Pancakes go well here, too. You can add an amazing assortment of foods to them. We use an ounce or so of coconut milk, the rest water to get thickness. Almost any bean will go in for some protein. I've ground chicpea, lentils, garbanzos, etc[whatever your child will tolerate] in a coffee grinder and added up to 1:1 with the rice flour mix. The end product is a bit nutty in texture but has caused no problems here. I've not tried it but I would guess baby food veggies [or your own cooked well and mashed] would be a good addition. The 'craving' sounds like searching behavior. Non of the allergy testing we ever did, traditional and not so, showed gluten/casein sensitivity and our daughter still reacts with seizures to these. Guest guest Report post Posted January 25, 2006 The scratch test, or RAST test is looking for IGE allergies, which are real allergies compared to the gut leakage we are looking for with IGG allergies. I wish they were better named and explained consistently. I would consider running BOTH tests and avoid BOTH of the marker sets. Many people are afraid their child won't eat when they change the diet, but most of them do. If you think about your child being fed a product that is a toxin, it might help you to get started and take the leap. - Stan > > Hi , > Thanks so much for this. Guest guest Report post Posted October 4, 2008 This is precious Stacie...I love hearing this stuff. Too cute...too funny. Gooooo . e Subject: To: AutismBehaviorProblems Date: Friday, October 3, 2008, 9:18 AM Ok so I have been meaning to post this very good news! On Wed, I had sent cookies to s class! I bought 7 of them and they were pretty big! They were shaped like apples, frosted red with a green stem! There are 3 kids, 1 teacher and 3 assistants!Anyhow on Wed morning I got an email from Jenna his teacher went Potty for the first time!!!! They have been working with him very hard and the assistant miss le usually goes in and works with ! He even was taught how to stand up and go! And he did! So... Jenna said they were going to have a party potty for him with the cookies I sent in! I was so very thrilled! You all know how hard this has been and nobody else got him to do this! I cried even! I wish I would of been there to see and for the party! Jenna said she would call me after school and she did and said that he went potty 6 times!!! So when I got him off the bus we were all excited and went inside and to the bathroom! He took down his pants and stood there and peed! So I got the potty chart out that I have been saving and I don't know how much he understood but I explained that every time he makes potty and/or poopy in there he will get a little car and a sticker goes on his chart! It is a wonderful start for sure! I asked about yesterday abd he said he did not go but then again he will say things like that just to avoid talking about it! I tried to have him go on Thurs a few times and he would only want to stay there for a second and was done and wanted nothing more to do woth it! I tried this am and he resisted! I asked him if he was going to go to school and go potty for Miss Jenna, Miss le, Miss and Miss Jermese! And you know what he said to me? No I don't think so! Maybe later! His way of putting me off! Well at least we are off to a good start! Maybe if I make it like a game now and do the cherrio thing that might work some at this point!StacieSent via BlackBerry by AT & T
Guest guest Report post Posted October 4, 2008 I do know we are in trouble... As my NT daughter was 4 when she was trained...had abosolutely no desire. In her two yr old mdo she was the one standing in her princess pullups handing out all the stickers to her friends who were "going on the potty mommy." Too cute. She is something else...I know I've said this before, but I really thought she's be 16 on a date in princess pull-ups...OK I know OT. But wanted to tell you that mine was way late...only 2 % of NT kids potty train after 4...well there you go. is a long way off, and I have a tiny feeling it's going to be awhile... J Subject: Re: To: AutismBehaviorProblems Date: Friday, October 3, 2008, 11:05 AM Thanks so much! It sure is exciting! He is 5 1/2 now! Can anyone tell me a typical age that kids with Autism get potty trained?Stacie BAurora Il Sent via BlackBerry by AT & T From: pkuenstleraol (DOT) comDate: Fri, 3 Oct 2008 12:32:33 EDTTo: <AutismBehaviorProbl emsyahoogroups (DOT) com>Subject: Re: That is a great start!! They were shaped like apples, frosted red with a green stem! There are 3 kids, 1 teacher and 3 assistants! Anyhow on Wed morning I got an email from Jenna his teacher went Potty for the first time!!!! Guest guest Report post Posted October 4, 2008 Awe thanks e! I talked to Jenna though and she said he has went a couple times since but only a tiny bit and that it seems to be stressing him out now! And at home he won't go for me either! Well it will happen! I know that! I am just so proud of him about Wed!StacieSent via BlackBerry by AT&TDate: Fri, 3 Oct 2008 16:07:31 -0700 (PDT)To: <AutismBehaviorProblems >Subject: Re: This is precious Stacie...I love hearing this stuff.
