Re: machinery sound

Hi Pia and everyone,

I live in the West Village (30 years)and work on the Upper West Side.

I love it here and my rent is still rather reasonable so I don't want

to relocate, however I am being driven insane by the machinery sound

that infiltrates every fiber of my being and turns an otherwise

semi-sane lady into a madwoman. Seriously, I know that my physical

well-being is at stake here due to my psychological reaction to this

noise that I have no control over. (I have other SSSS issues as well)

I read another poster on this board who mentioned soundproof windows

which just may help with this part of my SSSS. Wow, they are

expensive...between $500-$1000 for each window. I can possibly do it

at some point if I go into my retirement fund. I'm seriously

considering it if it will allow me to enjoy my home instead of living

here like a crazy person and avoiding having guests.

Anyway, I hope all is well in Astoria.

Regards to all my fellow SSSS friends.

Elaine

Hi Pia,

That sounds like a wonderful idea. I've never met anyone with SSSS

before. I work Monday-Friday and I leave work at 4:30 so I'm usually

available any day after that time except for next week (I work at a

school and although we're on a break next week I have the dreaded

jury duty, ugh). Any time after that should be fine. Just let me

know your availibility and we'll figure something out. Then we can

report back to our kindred spirits on this wonderful board.

Take care,

Elaine

PS- I think I know someone who either works or used to work at your

magazine, (as a photo editor).
