Hemi-paresis simply means muscle weakness on one side of the body. (I believe cerebral palsy is a more general term that can apply to many motor dysfunctions caused by a brain malformation.) You doctors are completely wrong to say that there is nothing that will help your son. It is true that therare not specific treatments for " PMG " , because PMG is just the label given to the way the brain has developed. There are certainly things that will help the hemi-paresis, though. Therapy helps, as you have already seen, and if tight muscles continue to be a problem, I would highly recommend inquiring into botox injections (they help to relax the spastic muscles). As far as predictions for the future, true, it's hard to know, but it seems many of the kids far exceed their doctor's expectations. It sounds to me like Dylan is doing great. (The fact that he eats well and is beginning to speak are great plusses as far as PMG goes.) Sam also has a rather mild case, he's in third grade, learning to read and write, do math, he walks, runs, loves phy ed class, and continues to amaze us. I hope some of this info is helpful.
