          and host Houston Autism Disability Network, present:

 

 

Special Education Clinic

 

If you’re the parent of a student who has disabilities and would like

assistance

with learning how to: obtain special education services; improve the services

your special education student already receives; understand evaluations and the

logistics of ARD meetings; or just want a refresher in special education

advocacy, this event is for you!

 

 

 Part One:

A training for parents that includes a brief overview of IDEA, with emphasis on

the evaluation process, ARD meetings, and development of IEPs. Length of time:

approx. 1 - 1.5 hours.  

 

 

Part Two:

 Following the training, parents are invited to meet with an attorney and/or

advocate to receive advice and information about their specific problem. Length

of time: approx. 20-30 minutes 

 

 

Please join Bellinger, attorney and Equal Justice Works Fellow with

Advocacy, Inc., for this free workshopand training opportunity hosted by the

Houston Autism Disability Network at Graceview Baptist Church on Saturday,

October 2nd, from 9:00am – 12:00pm.

 

 

Houston Autism Disability Network participants:

 

This meeting will serve as our monthly meeting as well -- please bring a brown

bag lunch and stay from 12 - 1pm to network and share information with each

other!

 

Parents of children newly diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder are welcome to

ask questions and network!

 

If you are a professional/organization in the area and would like to bring

information for parents and be available at information tables to assist

parents, you are welcome to come do so!

 

 

Seminar and Meeting is FREE, but for materials and handouts, we ask that you

please REGISTER!
