Movement stops fermentation?

I've read this statement before on here and I'm very confused by it.

How can moving the brewing vessel stop fermentation (and apparently

reverse it, if you have to start recounting days)? I can understand

that it may disrupt SCOBY formation, but how can it stop the actual

fermentation process?
