Guest guest
Dear and Group: I have been working with on helpful guidelines for applying for SSI/SSDI. I have also made several posts with recommendations. The request for a psychiatric consult is part of the investigative nature of the adjudictor's job as well as a medical consult. Please see the link below: http://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/rulings/di/01/SSR96-06-di-01.html If in your application, the adjudicator has doubt to the severity of your symptoms, he/she may order a medical or psychiatric consult. You may print out any documentation of your medical condition that supports and documents your symptoms. But, it is up to you to PROVE that your symptoms are SEVERE ENOUGH to warrant SSI/SSDI. That's just how the government works. I would highly recommend to anyone considering applying for SSI/SSDI to read my tips on our CCI page as well as go to www.ssa.gov/ and read literally everything you can about applying for social security, what the rules are, what medical conditions they accept, what the parameters for those medical conditions are, and the list of things you need to bring to your first appointment. They are very detailed in the medical conditions. They look at your medical records for symptoms, testing, labs, medications tried, procedures tried, results, referrals, results of referrals, etc. If you have any questions about your case, please call the Social Security Office you filed with and ask for your " adjudicator. " Get to know your adjudicator on a first name basis. Get their name and number. Then when you get a letter like this, call them and ask them about the nature of it. You can do that and they should be able to give you an answer. Maybe in this case, you have listed " depression " or " anxiety " as one of your symptoms and they want to determine the severity of the depression or anxiety. You still have many other symptoms that may affect your ability to function fully on a daily basis. Discuss this with your adjudicator. Until you get a denial letter, you still have a chance to PROVE that you cannot work at the moment. Good luck to all! --------------------------------- Boardwalk for $500? In 2007? Ha!
