Guest guest
Allie, I am so sorry. We went through that for three weeks with Karac. It was so hard. I slept in a heavy coat with the hood on and mittens that looked like gloves to protect myself for when he woke up and came to attack me. I did what you are doing warm baths etc. It was also brought on by a teacher's treatment of him at school. It was like post traumatic stress. Fortunately that teacher was transferred and it stopped after three weeks. Pat K**************Get fantasy football with free live scoring. Sign up for FanHouse Fantasy Football today. Guest guest
Have you Epson Salt baths before bedtime? They work for Karac. Pat K Do you know why your son is having night terrors; what is triggering them; what he is re-experiencing, etc? My son had a lot of medical procedures at a young age and his night terrors began after his surgeries. Whenever he is stressed, upset, goes to doctors appointments, goes to therapy even (I mean ST or OT), his night terrors return. The way we've worked through them is to figure out his triggers. By that I mean, what sets off the night terrors...what is causing the panic in him. And try to get rid of them. We stopped taking him to the doctor unless it was absolutely necessary....and he needed to go a lot, so it was a challenge. We realized that when he went with me, he expected blood draws, etc because he had been so sick when young and I had taken him, so if he went with Dad or an Aunt, he did not get as frightened.Melatonin, benadryl etc made my son worse after the first couple nights. He was terrified of something artificially relaxing him. We also believe it's because he was relaxed at the hospital and felt helpless. For my son, I give him a lot of choices...make him feel in control of his world and this reduces a lot of his anxiety. For example "Do you want to hold the blue sippy or green sippy at night night?" Little things like that, make him feel he is in control of a situation he is terrified about. Once the night terrors begin, just going to bed triggers them. YOu know how stressed you are just thinking abou tnight time. He is too. So, we did things like that.I know how hard this is. We've lived with it since he was 7 months old and he is now 4. They come and go but this has helped IMMENSELY. Maggiemom to Aiden ,___ New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination. Dining, Movies, Events, News more. Try it out! Guest guest
Having an EEG is a good thing...as you do want to rule out seizures...they don't always tell the full story but if he has one during, it will give them a read....also he will probably have a sleep one so as to make it the best scenario for a seizure.....She may do an MRI as well, and also some chromosome testing...that's what they did for our little man.....I'm so sorry that nothing is working for sleep...but maybe this is what you all need and the answer will come soon. HOLD on tight, as help may be coming Please keep us/me updated.....Hopefully they will find something and be able to help you more... e NIGHT TERRORS .. Guest guest
Hello! My son never had night terrors but he would never sleep. We tried melatonin and it did NOTHING! He is on trazodone now before bed and it works like a charm. He started taking it and 3 and he is almost 5 now. So i know what you mean about sleep being crucial! Sleeping better has helped his aggression son also! -- In AutismBehaviorProblems , " kashnkiki " wrote: > > I HAVE A THREE YEAR OLD SON WHO JUST SAW THE ONLY DR.
