Guest guest
I am 37 weeks pregnant with my third son and have suffered from this since puberty as well. As you might imagine, the farther along I get, the more irritated noises have made me. It seems to be worse in pregnancy. It has evolved into visual irritants as well. My poor sweet husband.... Unfortunately he gets the brunt of it. I went to a therapist who I have known for many years and she believes that this is exacerbated by the pregnancy i.e. hormones and sleep deprivation. But she also things this is a variation on OCD which runs in my family. She is going to have me start a special biofeedback type therapy but doesn't want to do it until AFTER the baby is born because she thinks I am suffering more because of hormones. She hopes that after the baby is born I will calm down. Fiona, I too had c-sections for the same reason. I have never had a hormone imbalance either but suspect there is some sort of link. I just really hope to be less tuned into the trigger sounds and sights after the baby is born. Good luck
Guest guest
I absolutely think hormones have some effect on my 4s reaction, but I've never been tested for estrogen levels. As far as I know they're normal. I'm not sure lack of contractions means you have low estrogen levels--there are many reasons that labor might slow down or stop. There are definitely certain days of the month (PMS) when my 4s is off the charts. When I was nursing (which elevates oxytocin), my 4s was a bit less of a problem. Maybe it was the intensity of having a little baby, but I think it was a physiological thing--just a hunch. I nursed both my kids for a long time, and there seemed to be an inverse correlation between my 4s reaction and the amount of time I was spending nursing. Has anyone else noticed this? I think I've mentioned this before and at least one person said it was the opposite for her. So many clues...
Guest guest
I just gave birth to my second son three months ago and my sensitvity to sound was terrible during this pregnancy, as well as my first. I've noticed the past few weeks I've been feeling much better. I hope the same for you. Best wishes. Debbie Re: oxytocin and estrogen ???? Guest guest
Hy to all members,Although I'm not a women I agree that 4S has something to do with lack (or too much) of some vitamins and/or minerals,hormones,amino-acids ...It is a matter of question if all 4S are lacking the same substance, or it is different for different people... I've had some experience with drugs that alter hormone levels in body and I've notice change in the mood, among other - 4S syndromes. Probably it will take time science to find the answer, but I believe even if that substance is to be found, it will change the personality of us, 4S people. 4S, or whatever that make us to belong to this group, gives us some other quality that will be lost with cure of 4S syndrome. But what came on my mind while I was reading this thread ladies, is the question about sexual durability: Do you think that level of sexual durability is similar to people with 4S ?? Maybe I should make a poll on this... Regards,Malvin you know how you can wander with wikipedia well, i was thinking about the birth of my baby and reading about oxytocin which led me to reading about it`s relationship with estrogen and their relationship with the flight fight mechanism ...getting nowhere fast i had trouble contracting and ended up having an emergency cesearian .... oxytocin is linked to contractions and i have low levels of estrogen so i am wondering whether anyone else has unusual levels of either of these hormones although they never told me that i had low levels of oxytocin, i just presumed it from the lack of contractions is it not strange that 4S started for so many of us around puberty.... is there a hormone link? any ideas on this ? fiona
