Guest guest
Nadine, Did you get any feedback on you VA question? MSC UNMC Hi everyone: I would like to know how you are handling patients who get their meds thru the VA. Is the patient obligated to use Mcre for IMS meds and pay the 20% copay even though the VA will fill them for a $0 copay? Will the VA coordinate with Mcre? Thanks for your help. Guest guest
Hi Nadine I don't think patients have to go thru Medicare for Immuno's since Va Benefits are lifetime. I know some of our patients get there meds from the Va. even if they have Medicare. >>> TPNADINE@... 03/21/01 04:47PM >>> No I didn't - do you have any suggestions? Thanks. Guest guest
only thing I can add is that I believe that for VA to fill scripts they have to be written by VA docs .... so I think when pts are transplanted at our facility and use VA for their meds the post txp nurses have to coordinate that somehow.... rusty >>> jbucche@... 03/22 9:13 AM >>> Hi Nadine I don't think patients have to go thru Medicare for Immuno's since Va Benefits are lifetime. Guest guest
That's true,Rusty. When we have a transplant patient who is getting medications from the VA, our transplant nurses give the patient (going to the VA) a " script " for the meds. The patient, in turn, takes it to the VA physician who then re-writes the script so the patient can get the meds. It sounds like a cumbersome system, but it does work and the patient is able to get the necessary medications. Arlene Gatto, Albert Einstein Medical Center, Phila. Guest guest
Our experience here at WPAHS in PA, is it must be written by a VA Doctor on a VA Script pad to be dispensed at the VA. We have not had them coordinate coverage with Medicare since both are Federal Programs. Some of the VA Facilities in this area are more flexible than others. And the patients must sometimes be seen out of state to continue VA coverage form eds. ********************************************************************** This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
