Guest guest
<<I own the 5th Ed -- ISBN 1-868-183-8. Shortly after purchase, I received " FACTS & FALLACIES OF FITNESS 2003 UPDATE " on pdf. This is basically an update of Chapter 22 of the 5th Ed. I also received a new Index. My Questions are as follows:Has the print edition been updated yet to reflect any changes? In other words, what I am asking is: (i) Have the changes from the pdf file update been incorporated into the print edition?>>> ***Yes, see below: Siff, M.C. Facts & Fallacies of Fitness (6th Edition). Denver, CO: M.C. Siff, 2003. Paperback. 320 pp. ISBN 1–868–183–8 Table of Contents: <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Supertraining/files/FF-CONTENTS.pdf > Fallacies covered in the Book: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Supertraining/files/FALLACIES.pdf Extracts from the NSCA's Media Reviews: Strength and Conditioning Journal: Vol. 25, No. 3, pp. 61–62. Plisk, MS, CSCS *D " " FACTS & FALLACIES OF FITNESS uses biomechanics, physiology, science and logic to investigate hundreds of beliefs drawn from the author's years of experience in strength training, aerobics instruction, competitive lifting, sports coaching, sports science and university teaching. This book takes a controversial look at fitness and sports mythology, prompting the reader to carefully reexamine many apparently well-established concepts in exercise training. It discusses fitness beliefs and training methods that are skewed by personal prejudices, pet theories, financial interests or fear of ridicule. In doing so, it reveals that many ideas accepted as gospel in the realm of fitness and sport are culturally and ideologically determined, and consequently more fallacy than fact. The book is organized into 24 chapters, addressing a very wide range of issues. The first two chapters present introductory information, and the next two provide a fairly condensed analysis of selected fallacies and myths. The remaining chapters are a series of longer essays that are presented in no particular order. The reader can begin with any topics that capture his/her attention without losing any sense of continuity.... " " > Lastly, can I get the entire updated book on pdf, or is it only > available in print? ***Only available in print. <<The reason I ask is that I'd ideally like to have a complete and final version in one format or the other -- not a mixture of the two! (I was a little irritated about finding this out at first, but I learned to accept it!)>> ***Likewise shortly after I purchased the 5th edition I received " FACTS & FALLACIES OF FITNESS 2003 UPDATE " on pdf. I was also frustrated by Mel's generosity: *Sending free updates of his books *Posting extracts of the latter *Running the ST board *Providing guidance to members re their work / assignments / projects *Letting members stay with him for free at his home (ST camp) Carruthers Wakefield, UK
