WEll said. I have recently seen censureship problems on a homeschool board,

and I have to say I am disgusted with the whole thing. Things like

deleting posts that point to other websites that have discussion boards.

Apparently spammers got on the boards and advertised their products. I

dont' mind deleting spam. But the posts that are being deleted now are

posts from individuals who enjoy some of the spammed curriculum, and don't

know that it was spammed. They just want to share what they thought was

helpful. The board moderator will not allow them to post it though, and

deletes even questions from other posters that want to know more about it

via email.

It is one thing to ban a spammer. It is quite another to delete individual

posts that refer to spammed material. Just because the material was spammed

does not mean it is not valuable to someone. And it is not the moderator's

place to decide who it is valuable to, only to decide which people are

actually spamming.

Sorry to vent, but this has really rubbed me the wrong way. And if this

list ever starts censuring, I will leave! I have nothing against common

decency, but then we all define that differently. I like the idea of

forewarning in the subjectline. That should be enough for us all to respect

each other.

Sharon..

Just wanted to let you know that I was not referring to anything you wrote,

or any letters or posts on tae bo. I was referring to a different board

about homeschooling...

And I agree with you that I don't like having my free speech tampered with!!

OH, ok...no, that wasn't what I was writing about, but I could understand

your worry about that!

AS of right now, I'm in on this discussion on this board about why they are

deleting stuff. And the board moderator is getting upset with my questions

(which are perfectly legitimate). I am trying to be a civil as possible,

but I am royally p*ssed.

I emailed the moderator a few days ago with a very polite and respectful

email about other posting questions, and she refuses to answer my email.

Obviously a ploy for control.

Thats another thing that really burns me up. She doesn't want to discuss

anything so that others understand it, she just wants to say " I said so " .

That doesn't fly with me.

LOL, I'm so tempted but I'm already so upset about the whole thing i jsut

want to spit.

I think I'll just boycott their site. Then I dont' have to get an ulcer

over it.

I think they just can't take a little controversey about themselves.

Don't get me wrong. Again, it is a private board, and they are kind enough

to host us, but at the same time, there are lots of other boards and lists

that dont' depend on censureship.
