Guest guest
Gees Iris, many of us must have harrowing lightning experiences. I¹d like to sit and watch storms, but I try staying far away from windows since I¹ve heard to many stories of lightning coming in one window and out another. It is beautiful to watch, but scary. I am about 2 hours south of Carol and 2 hours west of Debs, so hopefully one day we can all meet. We really should plan it. Have you talked to Carol lately? I think of her often and hope she is doing well with her new business. a > Wow! You have had a really exciting day. Guest guest
Hi a, The worst lightening experience that I have had was when the kids were attending the birthday party of a school friend in the park, and he was struck and killed. One minute happy and celebrating, and the next gone. The kids had a really hard time with that one. Yes, I spoke with Carol last week. She has been really busy because her business has really picked up and she was also on vacation at her Mom's. I will be planning the visit in about 6 weeks. I would like to go before school is back in session but on the other hand, it is so hot and humid in the south during the summer. With the meds that we take, being out in the sun is not anything we can do. I like to go out after dark when the temperature drops. So as long as we are in the water or out in the evening, I should be ok. Send me your telephone number so I can coordinate everyone's schedule. I can't wait to meet you in person. Are there any others out there that live in the vicinity of Orlando or within driving distance? Let us know!--- a <paula54@...> wrote: > Gees Iris, many of us must have harrowing lightning experiences. Guest guest
I can imagine that experience stayed with those kids forever. Such a tragedy. Just let me know the details and we can plan to get together! a > Hi a, > The worst lightening experience that I have had was when the kids were > attending the birthday > party of a school friend in the park, and he was struck and killed. Guest guest
Give Esther a big hug for me. I¹m so sorry she has to endure MORE painful procedures. She may get disgusted and just want it out as well. I had DVT and it¹s painful. Some people stay on blood thinners for life after having DVT. I didn¹t have to. There are NO TASTYKAKES! loves the peach pies and misses them. We also can¹t get a good doughnut. It took months to find edible pizza but we finally found a good shop. Why? Because the owner was from SEA ISLE CITY and knows how to make real pizza! Have you ever been to Bruni¹s pizza in Hammonton? That is the best pizza on earth as far as I¹m concerned. If you haven¹t been, and like pizza, it¹s great. It¹s right on 14th street before the tracks. They don¹t open until 4pm. I¹m sorry to say the we are in line for a direct hit. This area hasn¹t had a hurricane in 44 years. I move here and we get this!!!! Needless to say I¹m not a happy camper right now, but I know we¹ll be ok. Our house is a new one, built with the new hurricane standards, meaning my house can withstand 350 mph winds. We¹re about 15 miles from the Gulf, so the surge won¹t affect us unless it is a category 4 or 5. Right now it is expected to hit as a category 3. We¹re hoping it doesn¹t gain strength in the open waters of the Gulf. Would you believe the Jersey Tomatoes are all over here LOL! I also see Jersey asparagus advertised. We had a lot of rain here too this summer, and I think the top heat was around 95. It is a crazy weather pattern around our country. Guest guest
Oh, Carol, how awful for Esther, please tell her I am praying for her and sending healing thoughts. Knowing Esther the way we do, she will come through this with flying colours. Please keep us updated. Hugs June ----- Original Message ----- From: Esther Finlaw Are you in harm's way of either of these storms? Just wanted to let you know that Esther was in hospital again. We were afraid that her left knee replacement was infected as she had the same symptoms that she had on her right knee 13 years ago. Pain, swelling, but no fever. Even her calf hurt. Come to find out that she has a DVT Blood clot behind that knee. She is in a lot of pain. Was hospitalized for ten days....came home yesterday. Is on a Coumadin therapy and the doctor may also use Lovelox injections too. Sometimes I wished that we just went with not having a new knee put in. Her right leg is amazing without a knee and bends really well. Right now her knee is in a frozen position because of the pain. Doctor doesn't want to do manipulation under annestesia (spg?) because is afraid to break her femur. So, she has a lot of manuel manipulation and therapy ahead of her again . So, have you missed the Jersey tomatoes? We have had a weird summer so far. Can't say that it was too hot as of yet....and a lot of rain. My brother's garden did not produce the Pole Lima Beans for some reason this year. I love them and will miss having my belly full of them. LOL. I could make a meal on just the corn and limas. Can you get Tastykakes down there? My son always want them when they come visiting from Georgia and my daughter-in-law loves them too LOL. Would have written this personally but I don't have your correct e-mail addy. You show up only as a54 on my e-mails. Guest guest
Thanks Lynn. I have to agree that age is a number. How are you feeling? I'm sorry your insurance won't cover the remicade. Can you appeal it since remicade is done by infusion? a > > Dearest a, > I am sorry I missed your birthday. I hope you had a special day. > Reading your post it looks like you did. Guest guest
Hi a, I don't think I can appeal the decision. My insurance plan only pays for generic drugs and remicade is a brand name. I'm not too upset by it, I just feel I wasn't meant to have it. I'm okay, trying to stay busy. I think the last two weeks have been so hard since the death of my brother. It is harder now than it was four weeks ago. I miss not getting his emails. He would send me notes, says he was just checking in and wanted me to know he loved me. I miss him so much. Some friends of his are suppose to be getting together a beef and ale to help his wife. My brother couldn't get life insurance any were. He was so young with the first heart attack and wasn't covered at the time. I hope it all works out for her, my sister in law is special. Hope you are feeling okay. Glad you missed the hurricane. My brother lives in Key West and although they missed the worst of the storm, my sister was very scared. She said next time, no matter what they leave. They stayed at their home on the third floor. Guest guest
Judi, That is really great that he is taking such an active interest in your case. Just getting more doctors to be aware of DD will be a plus. It's doctors like this that make such a difference. I hope you enjoyed the beautiful day. a On Mar 29, 2005, at 9:37 AM, nonny46 wrote: > > Thanks, a! Dr. Travers is the head of dermatology at IU hospital, > and the one who diagnosed me with DD. Guest guest
, so glad that she and are OK. We are all hanging in there. Ron lost his job about a year ago due to downsizing and it took him quite awhile to get another. He applied all over our area and the only place who hired him was a factory in which he has to work shift work. He is 58 so I think his age worked against him although legally it's not suppose to. Anyway, he never worked shift work before and he really doesn't like it but has no choice. Esther is a trooper. She had a wrist fusion done on August 17th.....I believe she said it's her 65th surgery. Her arthritis is active again and her Rheummy first put her on metho but it affected her blood too much and she was sick on it. She has been on Kineret now for about six months. Can't say if it's working or not but when she had to discontinue all her arthritis meds for surgery, her fingers really swelled......so, between her cocktail of plaquenil, arava, and Kineret, I guess one could say they are working. She still works as a teacher's aide three to four days a week for the mentally challegened children. Her bosses are amazed that she works even in pain. Some of her co-workers call off for a slight headache or cold. Sorry, we haven't kept up with the list although I glance over and read some post often.. Have never unsubscribed hoping that some day we can continue with the group. Your children must be getting up there in age by now . How time flies. I can't believe that our twin grandsons will be 4 in November. Wishing you all a pain-free day. Gentle hugs, Carol/ aka, Esther's Mom wrote: > Hi, Carol! Guest guest
, I think you've found your purpose. I keep thinking I have to get well before God can get any glory from this whole experience. I feel like I have to be healed before I can say, " look what God did for me " . Maybe I just don't get it yet. Cherie > > > > Dearest a, > > > > Just wanted you to know I have been thinking of you as your BIG day > > draws near. Guest guest
Cherie, I " got it " when I experienced God in a dream . . . It happened when everything was at its worst. I had just lost my job because they systematically got rid of everyone who appeared sick and because I couldn't do the simplest job right! . . . My marriage was the pits, and I was sick as a dog! God told me to turn everything over to him. . . that He would take care of me, my family, my friends and my enemies. . . I woke up with the dream fresh on my mind and readily agreed to turn everything over to him. It was at that point when things changed . . . People came to me with information, ideas came to me on how to get well - many of them are things I still recommend! . . . I was given the name of a plastic surgeon who removed my implants properly, even though I didn't know what to ask for, and even though, to this day, he thinks implants are safe and doesn't do capsulectomies! All I can say is that, at that point, I got it! . . . Until one has the experience, it's all but impossible to make others understand what I'm talking about. Since that day, I don't see God as someone/thing out there . . . I feel His presence WITH me. That doesn't mean life has been trouble free . . . But, with God at my side, it is ever so much better! Hugs and prayers, Rogene
Guest guest
Cherie, Maybe God is glorified thru us while we are going through our hardships. How else can we show the world that there is more peace, more love, and more hope in the midst of pain if it isn't shown until the very end? Isn't it amazing that you're out the day after surgery, that's how it was with me, too. My husband and I took a really long ride, and actually went out to dinner the day after I had surgery.
