non-aluminum ice cream makers

Cook's Essentials has a 1.5 Qt Ice cream maker with a steel bowl for $39.56.

You can order it from 1-888-345-5788 I think it's item number K77102 however

double check on that. One problem with it though is that my blade keeps

falling out and it quits right in the middle of making the ice cream. I end

up finishing it with my hand mixer. Two other friends of mine have them and

they don't have any problems with them. You can order just the bowl and it's

probably $10 or something like that. If you have a decent hand mixer you can

by the freezer bowl, keep it in the freezer and mix it with a hand mixer.

Also, does anyone know anything about the White Mountain ice cream makers?

My relatives have an old one and I think it's a steel canister. It requires

ice and salt to freeze but their ice cream is much fluffier and far superior

to mine.

This subject came up on the traditional nutrition

message board, but there hasn't been any answer yet.

Someone asked about aluminum interiors of electric ice

cream makers. Like this person, I also got one for

Christmas. The interior of the freezing container on

mine also appears to be aluminum, although it doesn't

say anywhere what it actually is. Is this a problem?

I would never store ice cream in it, nor would I put

anything acidic in it. But before I actually use it

(while I can still exchange it if necessary), does

anyone know if there's a consumer-grade brand of

electric ice cream maker with a stainless steel

interior?

I have an old one, too, and so does my grandmother.

The canisters on ours are not stainless steel. I'm

not sure precisely what they are, not aluminum (much

heavier than that), I suspect they're something cast,

like iron, and plated with tin. Whatever is under the

tin will rust, my grandmother's is rusty in a few

spots. I don't know about new models. They do make

fantastic ice cream, but it's so much more work and

mess dealing with all the ice and salt, not to mention

cranking it by hand!

What is the traditional nutrition message board? Or rather, where is

it? I searched using various phrases, but didn't find

it. Thanks, Lynne

Please feel free to. I can't remember the name of the company. The original

info came from a friend of mine. I have one but I don't have the receipt

anymore just the ice cream maker.

It's not a mailing list group like this one, but a

message board accessible to anyone on the web. I set

it up last year. There are an annoying number of

pop-up ads associated with it, but hey, it's free.
